Strange item question

This afternoon I found a purple cane that couldnt be identified...it was just a purple cane.

Ive also found 2 purple salvageable armor that wasnt identifiable that didnt do anything and a gold salvageable item that only gave a minor rune...shouldnt gold be superior and purple major?

I cant make any sense of the coloring system of this game...i know they represent rarity, but i dont have a sense that a gold item is godly, a purple item is exceptional, and a blue item is good or anything like that...they are just identifiable items.

Any help would be appreciated.

You get those items once in a while. Not much you can do about it. Kind of sucks that a purple item has no actual benefits though.

Rarity just means it has a better chance of having a mod/rune etc. You just got a few unlucky drops. I would just sell or salvage them.

Same thing has happened to many of us I reckon. It's the luck of the drop.
