Low Resolution Textures on other characters.

anyone here seen/realized that the other players' character has low resolution textures? I know that the developers did that to make the game faster, but i hope they release a patch or something that u can enable this option on or off. i know this is just a "minor" problem for me but do you think its better if all the characters are in the right textures when ur taking screenshots? coz the graphics in this game are awesome.

Low resolution textures? Please explain what you mean by it. The quality seems much better than that of *cough*WoW*cough*. Something close to *cough*Lineage2*cough* I'd have to say.

Could you possibly post a screenshot? That way we'll be able to see exactly what you mean. Please tell us the specifications of your PC also, it may simply be a detail level / performance thing.

Other peoples armour looks fine to me. What specs are you guys running? Maybe there's a built in level of detail range for lower-end cards.

I've got an athlon 64 3200+ with a 1 gb of ram and a radeon x800XL (256mb). When looking at myself, my armor is full detail, but those around me have lower detail armor. Also, I have all of the sliders at max detail but have not noticed any change except a general worsening of image quality by lowering them. I am running catalyst 5.4 on my computer I believe, and it may be causing the problems as I never remember seeing them during the beta. I will try changing video drivers tonight and see if they fix the problem.

Perhaps he/she means this? The details seem a lot sharper on my monk than the warrior. It's a lot more noticable, btw, with the post-processing effects turned off - this screenie is w/them off. EDIT - it seems to affect the 'clothes' more dramatically than the actual character model.

indeed, let me bring my video card to it's knees! (seriously!)

This is a purposeful game mechanic. It's for scalability. Everyone should be able to notice low rez on other players in city areas (although they should also notice that their own cahracter remains high-rez). There is no difference in video cards that causes this, and there is no game setting that will permit you to have high rez in city areas. Folks who haven't noticed in this thread just haven't looked closely enough at other players while in cities. (Easiest to tell, imo, on the plate-armored male models.)

To be honest, if high res textures are on the top of your wish list then maybe you should take up FPS's instead.
