Very Lucky Lornars group
asdar
I got into a Lornars group heading for Draknar's forge and well, anyone that's made that trip without Ascension knows how difficult it is. Those who say they ran it blah blah blah, well I'll believe it when I see the video it's a killer tough fight through 2 long zones and a short but hard one.
We had an awesome and determined group that never wiped in Lornars and it took us 5 hours of fighting to get to fort whatever at 2AM EST. We hadn't been in the Fort for more than 5 minutes when the server went down.
5 minutes earlier, or if we'd taken a rest break and the whole night would have been flushed. We were a bit upset that we couldn't continue but man it would have been so horrible to lose all that work.
This is the first server crash I've ever experienced in GW. It wasn't a shut down all the way, we could talk to the group, we just couldn't zone and when we tried to log out to reload it wouldn't let us.
Great fun for all and I hate the giants with the rocks more than the worms.
Good luck everyone that makes this journey.
btw, every single member of the party leveled in this trip and one guy got 2 levels in one session.

Wow... no one was level 20? Now that's interesting.
Anyway, congratulations on your successful journey.

i'm thinking of making that journey today with my level 10! I just did a trek from Yak's bend to Beacon's perch. skipping 2 full mission.
since i already beat the game with my other character, I feel like doing challenging stuff with this one!
I tried lornar's pass with my level 20. god it's hard. but my group had a few idiot in it...so that might have been the problem!

You will do little more than leech at level 10. Lornar's is no joke.

I know, my monk ( the level 10 ) is kinda weak, but my friend did the trek to droknar's forge at level 11! so i'm sure i can to!
Phantom Force
Congrats on getting there. However I would much rather run the missions and get there in the 5 hours it took you lol. I'm sure it was fun and you guys had a blast, which is why we have MMORPG's to do crazy things like that. I suppose I'd do it too if I was in no hurry and that many hours to play straight. Nice job.

I'm sure with the right group you can get thru at 11.
None of us had 60 AL armor and I was the only one that had actually gotten through Lornars before.
At the start of the night none were 20's but by the end we had all but 2 level'd up there. fantastic experience and a great Pick up group.
Word to all the Necromancers out there, ours kicked butt. We wouldn't have made it without him.
Gear, I don't know if you know but there's a boss with heal other in Iron mines, zone in from the other side, not Yaks and you might see him. I captured it there and really liked the spell for Lornars. Heals for 170 for 10 but what I like is that it's insta cast so you get in and get out fast before you get clobbered.
I still use breeze a lot though, the two in conjunction work great. Good luck!

don't have capture signet yet.... I just made the trek from Yak's bend to Beacon's perch, skipping 2 missions...

People can run from Becon's Perch to Camp Rancor through Lornar's Pass if they have the right setup of skills. My guildee did just by himself, and thanks to him I got my ran/necro to Draknor's Forge. If you are curious he ran it with a Warrior/Monk.

I'm not one to call anyone a liar, I hope I didn't come off sounding like that.
I've sure never seen anyone get close running, not even close, but there are certainly people that are better than me at this game.
I'm not a warrior but I think Bonnetti's defense, sprint, mend? and the big HP buff would be the way to go. You lose most power regen but you should have a heal or two on top of the signet and be able to recast Bonnetti's once if you make it thru the duration.
I'd be curious to hear what set up he used.

It's not impossible to run it, the only REAL problem is getting knocked down by giants/those huge worms. To remedy that, just bring Balanced Stance (A warrior's skill).

Lol, tried this in a pug last night and had no idea what I was in for. Started about 10:00, needed to go to bed around 11:30ish. Around 11:00 we made it through Lornar's and into the beginning of the second zone. Ended up having to bail around 12:00 when the whole group had 60 dp and were trying various football split up and sprint tactics
Haha, what a blast. Anyway, we'd just made it to the giants with rocks in the second zone. What were we, like halfway? Felt like an eternity.

I'm gonna try the run tonight. Maybe bring some afk friends along.
I have a Mo/W14
I will screenshot it when possible.
I'm thinking of this (do remember, I'm only level 14, I don't yet have SoJ and other fun skills that would help me along this trek):
HealingPrayers: 11
ProtectionPrayers: 8
This is comming from a 'run' build that worked for me last night. I throw this up just before encountering the next group, run in, then sprint off hopefully.
- Healing Breeze (Healing Prayers)
For the next 10 seconds, target ally regenerates 8 health regeneration each second.
Cheap heal
- Reversal of Fortune (Protection Prayers)
The next time target ally would take damage, that ally gains that amount of life instead, maximum 54.
My other cheap heal
- Orison of Healing (Healing Prayers)
Heal target ally for 60.
When I KNOW things will be bad, right before I sprint up I'll throw this up if I know it's gonna hurt.
- Guardian (Protection Prayers)
For the next 5 seconds, Guardian has a 38% chance to Block attacks and magical projectiles striking target ally.
+3 regen is always good on a runner
- Mending (Healing Prayers)
While you maintain this Enchantment, target ally gains 3 health regeneration.
It could mean living or dying out there. I don't have a shitload as level 14
- Vital Blessing (Protection Prayers)
While you maintain this Enchantment, target ally gains 136 maximum health.
You never know... there could be that ONE mob that just won't get the hell off me.
- Pacifism (Protection Prayers)
Target enemy cannot use physical attacks for 16 seconds. This effect ends if the target takes damage.
The KEY to making this work. Sprint through mobs, let it recharge if possible between them. I found that once I throw on sprint, I tend to lose agro VERY EASILY.
- Sprint (Strength)
For 8 seconds, you move 25% faster.
I ran to quarell falls (NOT easy with wind riders raping my enchants) from druid's overlook. I also did a small run from frostgate to icetooth cave. Both of these last night.
Personally, I'd prefer a Mo/Ele Build for some of the defensive solutions from the earth line while still getting the speed boost from water. But this is what I have to work with.

I tried sprinting a few different ways the other day. The problem, as Rahne said, are knockdowns. It doesn't matter how good your healing is or how long your sprint lasts when you can't move because 3 snow Worms are knocking you down in succession. Anti-knockdown skills are your only hope.

It makes me very happy when people agree with me... or mention me in their posts.
Gear853
i made it at level 10, by the time i got there i level to 11! boy was it fun!

What was your group setup Gear853?
Lomax
we just made it last nite took 4 hours and we had a 16 lvl myself at 19 and the rest 20. had to do both fights and some group runs with some draging the large mobs out of the way for the main runners. we were lucky to have a undead necro called raging prostate
who used all our repeated deaths to make a army of undead to bunch up the big mobs so i could drop fire spells down on them, and the healer could raise the dead.

Don't forget to bring Battle rage,
You cannot Sprint while you are using Balanced stance, so you get hit and build up Adrenaline.
I use
Sprint
Battle Rage
Balanced Stance
Endure Pain
Mending
Healing Breeze
Restore Life
Healing touch
This is my setup for the Infusion runs, and I take pride in being the first across the finish line. I have even run it by myself just because I enjoy the challenge (not that there is really any challenge doing it with a group).
You see skills there that can only be had by doing the missions, so I do not see the reason to use Lornar's Pass you will still have to get the skills, so you will be to high a level to enjoy the game.
My 2 cents

mm use balthazars spirit and charge. their are w/mo builds who can do the run solo at lvl 20 .

I agree with Rahne Sinclaire.

i am randomly mentioning Rahne Sinclaire in my random, utterly off topic and compleately useless post that has nothing to do with the topic at hand.
Feel appreciated.

The real challenge of beating lomar challenge is doing it with a full team of non-ascended characters. eg 6 characters who have not been to droknars forge prior. The point of Lomar's pass is to take a very challenging short cut to droknars forge. Lots of players do it via piggybacks from more advanced characters but that seems a bit lame so I'm determined to make the trip with a droknars virgin team.
Lomars Pass itself is pretty easy (though time consuming) to get through. Its not difficult to fight through without running as long as the team is willing to communicate and listen to each other. Dreadnaughts Drift however seems to be the main stumbling block and everytime I've tried my team has given up there. The massive concentration of dolyak masters and minions and the group of knockdown giants waiting to stop runners is a pretty tough hurdle.
While a good warrior sprinter can get through with balanced stance, that skill isn't available until Droknars. Dolyak Signet is the only anti-knockdown skill I know of available at that point and it doesn't really help too much for getting past the giants.
Does anyone have any good ideas for possibly seperating and taking out the dolyak masters, and/or getting past the giants without balanced stance?

I can run it solo with my W/Mo. I do die sometimes when I get body blocked, especialy in that cave at snakes dance. But I can run it in under 30 minutes. People that I have ran say I am alot faster than 30 minutes. I have not personaly timed myself but they estimated around 15-20 minutes total.
I am thinking about getting full gladiators just for this running since I make a job out of it. (I charge 4k per person).
EDIT: Removed my build.
