Curious about life bond

Life bond is the monk skill under Protection Prayers, description is this:

Description: While you maintain this enchantment, whenver target other ally takes damage from an attack, half the damage is redirected to you. The damage you receive this way is reduced 3-25 points.

My question is entirely hypothetical, but I'm wondering if a chain of 6 or 8 of these could basically be cast in a circle, causing a lot of reduced damage?

I guess not, because the description says specifically 'damage from an attack', but I'd have to try it to be sure.
