Army Life

I have been having trouble completing the Army Life quest at Piken Square. Is it bugged? I've tried it several times and it is easy to reach the goal but I can't get the quest to update so I can complete it.

The quest involves finding a dead body. I head towards the goal, and hear the guy being killed in the distance, and sometimes I even get close to the body before it disappears. But the quest doesn't update, and the body quickly disappears. The green arrow tells me to stand in a particular spot but standing there has no effect.

There is also some sort of centipede named Joe with the old guy who dies. I can't attack him or kill him in any way.

Please help! Any advice is appreciated. I met someone else who was having the same problem last night and we couldn't figure out what the problem was. We both abandoned the quest and tried again with the same result.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I hate to break it to you but the old guy is the one you want to take back to Piken Square.

the "person" assigned you the mission thinks the old guy is deasd but he isn't.

BTW once yo talk to the old guy take him back to Piken Square.
I got him and then went on to do another mission. He disappeared and I couldn't complete his mission.
I had to abandon it and restart to get teh crefit.

this one is so easy I woner why it was included.

Do I need to rush to him and cast Mending or keep him healed or something?

Once you get close enough to an area, a specific sequence of events gets triggered.

You either need to quickly move toward protecting him (joe is his pet) or clear monsters in the area carefully while not approaching too close to your objective. As long as he's out of radar range he should be ok.
