Team XP?

Ok, someone may tell me to go and read my manual, which would probably have been a good idea ....but,

Has anyone figured out how XP is divided amongst team members?

How about teams with varying levels?

If a Lvl 19 PC is teamed with a lvl 5 PC and fighting lvl 8 mobs, will the lvl 19 get any XP? Is it standard values? Is it divided proportionately with the higher lvl PC getting the greater % of the XP?

I only ask because I play(ed) City of Heroes and the XP thing was a real issue. Since NCSOft made that one and this one, I am trying to figure out how its handled here.

Any help would be appreciated, and believe it or not, I couldnt find any forums talking about this, even using search (XP).

they are not divided to my knowledge its all realitive to your level. you gain xp in the group even if you dont kill the critter and would be the same xp if you killed it solo.

as far as I can tell it is split. I played pre-sear with a friend because I was a higher level R/W and he was a R/M so I helped him fight to keep him from dying. We were both getting around 30 XP for killing most creatures. Myself being a level 7 and he being a level 3.....when he was off on his own he was getting 80XP for killing the same creatures.

Are you sure about that? I think I have noticed I got more XP alone than with henchies.

like i said "to the best of my knowledge" im not 100% sure as the stuff im fighting now in the game cant be solo'ed

The xp is split up evenly between each member of the party then the level penalty is applied to the xp you would have gotten. For example I just ran through the "Wall" mission with my level 20 Ranger and a group of 3 level 7 to 8 people. While I got no XP for any of the kills they got between 17 and 30 xp per kill.

PS - If the mob that you are killing is 6 or more levels below you get no xp.

I found out last night that you also need to be physically close to the battle in order to gain experience. Due to a bug that rendered my character stuck, I basically sat on my hands while the rest of my team finished up the mission (rough, I know.. )

I didn't receive any XP on their kills unless they were closeby.
