Chaser
For guild wars to work on my computer, i need to upgrade it A LOT, but im a little confused on somthing. Would this processor work for guild wars? If not what would be a good processor upgrade for a fairly cheap price?

Yes, it should work but I recommend going with something a little more intense and stable. Intel is fine to go with but Celeron is not, Celeron is considered to be the failure of the Intel processors. I apologize if I do not have this fully correct but it is my understanding that the Celeron is orignally meant to be a Pentium processor... cutting the story short. Celeron is the failure Pentiums, and I recommend you DO NOT TOUCH THEM. To get a good feel out of the game I recommend you go with nothing less than 2ghz for processor speed.
Here are a few I would go with (if not wanting to spend over $200 and only wanting to shop from Comp USA):

http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...000&pfp=BROWSE
((Here is what I got and it runs VERY SMOOTH on full graphics))

PS. If you get a new processor you will mroe than likely need a whole new motherboard as well as other things. I would show you a great, cheap computer setup but I do not have the time.

EDIT
a celi is a crippled pentium with one half the processor memory disabled
with this game cutting cpu memory is not good at all
first find out what your computer will accept as an upgrade and work from there
EDIT AGAIN
all those links are for AMD products and he has intel
check at
http://www.newegg.com/
under processors at this place using whatever price limit you choose

Yes make sure your motherboard supports the processor. And try to stay away from the celeron's. They simply do not have the computing power for playing today's games.
If you can get your motherboard/computer/power supply specs. I am sure some of us can recommend products that will work on it.

here is the cheapest step up from a celeron and it is a big step
make sure it is useable
BE SURE TO GET THE RETAIL PACKAGE FOR THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY
not the OEM package which has only a 30 day warranty
the price difference is small

I was just giving a rough idea of what you should look for. Your computer can only be as good as the motherboard is. I guess in that sense... listen to your mother, she knows what is best. Could not help myself.

Okay, Celerons are crap like omfg crap! Sorry to say that if any one i a fan of it i used to have a comp with a celeron my god I despised it! Anyway, I would suggest going for a p4 xD But alas the name of the game is money V.V Not to mention I know jack aout installign processors so im just going to shut up now, I just thought id put my inoput in

You all like spending someone elses money huh?
Consider I am running GuildWars on a 1.3 ghz Celeron with 512 megs of ram, even windows 98 SE and a regular pci nividia 5200 FX with 128 video ram. The game runs fine, many times I am alone for 30 seconds of mission due to connection and that processor isn't being over taxed.
Sure i am only playing at 1024 x 768 res but full colors, effects and quality. The only lag i have experienced has been network lag, absolutely none as far as processing power.
Now with that out of the way...Whoever said the person needs to make sure motherboard will support the processor they fine is absolutely right. I would strongly suggest the person consider an entire upgrade of mother board etc. or a "geek kit" from http://www.geeks.com. Their kits change about once a week and usually you can get box with 400 watt power supply, motherboard, processor, cd/rw, keyboard, mouse for around 100 dollars. Understand I am not saying this is the best system or anything like that but it'll run guildwars without a problem and you get alot of machine for a low price. If you need more just buy the more fans, 600 watt power supply, etc.
Good luck with it man

I meant to say "I am many times alone for the first 30 seconds of missions...." Sorry
