Hi all,
Just wanted to be sure I understand runes correctly. I'm posting 3 pictures.
Pic 1: Is this a possible rune or something thats just highly salvagable? Curious why it's purple because I get others just like it thats white? What should I do with it?
Pic 2: Again same question. Possible rune? Highly salvagable or is it purple this time because its special and requires blood Magic to use?
Pic 3: Ok fairly certain this IS a rune? If I understand it correctly buy an expert salvage kit and salvage this for a good chance at a rune?
I'm basically trying to understand the rhyme and reason to the purple and or how the equate to runes.
Thanks

My rule of thumb is, if it's purple/gold and says salvage item, use an expert kit. Especially on the Minor Expertise one.
The first one will most likely give you craft items, but the color and 'salvage item' label means you'll get a larger stack.
The second one is just a rare drop. Sell it, keep it, whatever.
The third has a good chance of yielding a Rune of Minor Expertise.

Purple is just a level of rarity.
I ascending rarity they go: white, blue, purple and gold.
To know if an item has a salvage item or not, just identify it during a quiet moment, with your windows closed. If something is uncovered a box with "item unlocked, blah, blah" will show up.
To get the rune/upgrade component off you have to use an expert salvage kit, and there is no guarantee you'll be successfull.
It is worth mentioning that you should expert salvage stuff as low as blue. I've gotten 5 steel out of expert salvaging a blue longsword w/o stats. Don't know what to do with that blue/purp stuff? Expert salvage it for rare crafting materials.

That's good to know... I'll be using my expert kit a little more often...

Ok, when you see an armor drop that has "unidentified" on it, you know you've hit the jackpot, this usually (if not always) means there is a rune in it. But purple rarity without the "unidentified" usually just yields a higher quantity of items.
but as stated above color indicates rarity, which in either case I still pee my pants if i see purple or gold

With the first 2 purples I wouldn't use an expert on them. I would either sell them or use a regular salvage. The last one, definitely use an expert. Just because it's purple doesn't mean it'll give something good. It just means there's a chance higher stats will come from identifying it, but doesn't guarantee it. If you want steel, use an expert salvage on all "for sure" metal items (swords, certain shields, hammers, axes, deadly cestas...).

Even if they dont say 'Unidentified' use an ID kit on it, the value goes up signifigantly and well sell 100+ to merchant.
