warrior/elemental good build?
DrSLUGFly
I was thinking, for PvE only, and for soloing (no henchmen) would a w/e work? I was just reading a thread talking about how w is just a meat-sheild and casters are the dmg dealers... so what if you could be both the tank and the dmg at the same time, putting all focus on armor, energy and fire? Is this a sensible build? Is this a common build? Is this a stupid build?

Well as a warrior elementalist myself, I think its a pretty good build :P
When I created him, I never thought about what best combo is really..
I chose a warrior because its just my overall favorite class that I use in all the games Ive played, and elementalist because they are balanced people, mastering the arts of not one element, but all 4
EDIT
Like during fights I use my swords to do damage, shields to block damage, then use effective elemental spells and do lots of damage at once.
Either way though, I could'nt tell you how good or bad it is, since it is my only, and main character.

I just got to Sanctum Cay with my W/E (speccing sword, tactics, strength, and fire pretty evenly) with nothing but henchmen, and opening every port point up to there without doing a single mission. I'd say in general it is a very viable build. Been working well enough for me. As for pure solo? Haven't tried much yet, might work since you can take quite a beating, but the limited healing might hurt a bit.

My main is W/E.. Does pretty good for dishing out damage, but the self-healing is kinda crappy. You take double damage when using the Warrior healing Signet.. ANd the elemental healing is no good for a warrior either when it is a percentage of the energy you put into spells..
Warriors have almost no energy compared to a primary elementalist.
I can take on low level areas all by my lonesone. but sually get outclased aroundBorlis Pass if going totally solo due to the healing issue.

this build is okay, btu what meses it up is the inability to change the amount of energy yiou have (unless you get upgrades and such)

My main character is a W/E and he is a damn good tank. Going earth would probably be the best choice, their defencive moves are low cost, and have low casting times. So the lack of energy of the warrior has little effect on it. I would not really recommend any other element really, maybe ice for slowing, but that is about it. Combining Tactics with Earth magic can make you a great defencive tank, it is very hard to die with them together.

First of all, energy storage is for elemental primaries, so consider that out. Also as stated, you can only use healing signat to heal yourself and it isn't great and you get double damage for about 2 seconds while using it. Also mobs like centaurs have a disrupting attack that will interfer with it.
In order to make it work fully solo (no henchies either), you'll need a lot in tactics and earth. Tactics to improbe healing signat and watch yourself (+20 armor) while earth will give you some protection spells. Water has some too, but they aren't that great.
I'm using a W/E as my prime and I'm enjoying it, but it isn't a great solo class. You'll have good armor and can do decent damage but you can't heal yourself all that well and there will be trouble when enemies (like tengus) start ganging up on you. That lack of keeping your HP up will be your biggest problem. You'll have to keep using an earth spell for armor, then watch yourself right before you use the signat.
Also watch out for enemies that use necro or mesmer abilities. The latter isn't too bad, but both will give you troubles with health degenerators that you can't cure. One good thing though is if some ME puts empathy on you, you can always start spamming flares or something like that at him.
Now if you use your W/E for PvP, you can put it to good use. Particularily as a support terror.
