For the last week or so I have been working on a little project meant to help people more easily find other Guild Wars players. The result is The Guild Wars User Database. It is not yet complete, but functional enough to let people start using it at least. With your help, I hope to build a large enough user base to actually make it a valuable tool to people
Implemented Features
Registration
Lost Password recovery (since passwords are encrypted using one-way encryption, this only generates a new password for your account and mails it to you)
Customizable color schemes
Add up to four characters to your account (since that is the GW limit). Each character can have a description up to three hundred characters long.
Search by: Character Names, Guild Names, Primary Profession, Secondary Profession, What server the character is on, Role playing yes/no, Gender, Languages spoken by the character owner, Level.
Delete characters
Edit characters.
To be added in the near future
Edit password.
Edit other settings.
Attribute "Looking for Guild" yes/no
Save logins via cookies.
Considered, but not more than that
Guild registration
GWUDB can be found on http://www.nehle.net/gw
That was all really. I would be honored if you took the time to register and add your characters.
Oh, and since it doesn't say on the page yet: All e-mail addresses are hidden and will not be given or sold to anyone. ever. So registering will not bring you a bunch of spam (except for the auto-generated registration confirmation message with details on how to complete your registration)

you know, i can see the great intentions and all but with the recent onslaught of fake 3rd party programs that keylog and steal all sorts of information, i would think that people would be wary of divulging so much information.
another alternative is to use online "phone book" threads like this one, although it may not be as well organized as a dedicated project.
however, as a precautionary measure, i will go ahead and close this thread. if another mod feels that this is unwarranted, then feel free to reopen it.
