I followed the Prince out of Sumria to free the hostages, I think we freed about 3 groups of them - and when we did the last group - it started a "video" about the whole situation, and the Prince says we are off to this City to free more captives. We get to a broken down castle/fortress type building with two Charr at the gate on the other side of a bridge - we killed the Charr, only to find that the bridge had drawn back and you had to push a Lever on the other side - which you cannot reach to open the gate. Meanwhile the Prince and the Captive we freed both FROZE on that ridge we were on and I could do nothing to get them to move. They are still standing there to this day!
So - we FREED all we needed to BUT I got NO credit for it. I guess you must have to go back with them - to get credit eh? But the Prince rushes on and then lets me take over on the lead???

The prince and Erol actually has to wait there while you run a little ways around to open the lever from the other side. Once you've done that, he'll say something like "This is a fight we cannot win. I know another way around". You'll have to follow him, fight some charrs, rescue some mages, and then win the mission.

TKS Joyz ---- I will have to redo the whole thing again BUT I must have spent at least 1/2 hour or more trying to find exactly what you mention - another way into that place but finally gave up because it appeared IMPOSSIBLE.

THANKS much for your help - I have used it, BUT, I am burning out on this Mission. Let me tell you about my last 2 attempts - 1st, Released ALL prisoners, attempted bonus mission to kill Fire Bearers, but apparently killed them too early, let the Prince and other fella in, and Prince says "we are in over our head" - he was right, we got POUNDED by overwhelming numbers of CHarr. Returned to starting place - NOT given Credit for freeing the hostages.
2nd: Reading tips found out you have to cautiously follow the Firebearers and NOT attack them until they open a door, I tried it, but as I and me band reached the top of that little hill where they go down to the water crossing - they "heard" us and we had to kill them all again - mission failed. This time after letting in the Prince, I knew better than to take on all those Charr, so when the Prince says, "follow me I kow a way out a here" I was UP for that - but he then suddenly stops leading. I decide that maybe I could get credit for the main mission IF we ALL made it back to the starting site - - - BIG Surprise! We get All the way back to Sumria and outside the gate are the men we freed - BUT there is NO way to ENTER Sumria again! So I use the quick enter from our Map and naturally do not receive credit for helping the Prince save the captives again????
I am wearing this one out and it is getting really frustrating - can someone please tell me anything that will help me FINISH this baby???

@_@ Finishing the mission you get the credit for saving the dudes. The bonus mission is the only other thing you get more credit from.
If you find this hard, whoo boy you're in for some nasty surprises later on.

Ok here`s a litle map:
The big green line is the bridge, you know how to get there. Follow the yellow line and the key is to keep to the right side path and sneak past the Charr. At the green X a door will open and a bunch of monks will come out, follow them and Runik to the red X and you will guard him. The Charr will now come at you but in small groups of 4-5.
It`s been a while since I did the Fire Bearers but I don`t rmember it being that tough. You have talked to the guy who gives you the quest that is held prisoner in the spot to the right instead of going under the bridge?

I just did this last night on an alt of mine. Be aware that there is a monument before you come to the bridge lever, that monument is a part of another quest. You should have that quest if you've taken them all up to this point in the game. I forget the name, maybe 'Cities of Ascalon' where you have to find 3 monuments in 3 different locations. I'm only mentioning this because if you're fed up with it now, you may not want to have to do it yet again for that quest.
After the fire bearers open the gate, and you kill them, go inside to the left to find the fire keepers. I almost forgot to do that last night because I was tired. I killed the bearers, went and pulled the bridge lever, followed the Prince to the next batch of charr and killed them. He wanted me to lead after that, I checked my mission log and saw the bonus wasn't done. D'oh. I took the Prince and Erol back with me to kill the keepers and got the bonus.
It's not a very hard mission. Really.

THANKS to ALL of you fellow GW'ers that assisted this Ranger in finally "getting the job done". This afternoon after 5=6 attempts I was able to get it right - Killed many CHarr, "the ONLY good Charr is a DEAD Charr!" freed tha captives and destroyed the Flame Bearers. It is onward and upward.
This game is GREAT! I have NEVER liked RPG's etc. until now - as advertised, this is more addictive than crack!
