Is the only place to acquire this skill from a critter or Skill Trainer? I can buy it from Sorim, but I am trying to NOT buy skills. If anyone has any information on this, would be most appreciated!
Ignotus
I too came here looking for a quest that would give this as a reward for a secondary monk. I believe primary monks get it from a quest early on, like near Sardelac Sanatarium I believe.
super dooper
I'm a primary Monk and haven't seen this skill available through a quest. Just the skill trainer(s) and the Signet Of Capture, either way you lose a skill point.

I was browsing through a Prima Strategy Guide and it said you can pick up "Heal Other" through a Quest!
This was a few days ago, and I didn't recognize the name of the person giving the Quest or their location, but that is what it said.
Anyone got a Strategy Guide and willing to elaborate for us please?

I think you kill the skeletons/minions first to piss the boss off. Then, the NPC tells you that it worked, the boss is pissed that you killed his minions. Now you go back out and kill the boss. I think it's the necro dude from the pre-searing catacombs that you have to kill. I'm not too certain about any of this. Visit all of the NPCs in Sardelac Sanitarium as a monk.

I've done that quest with my primary monk and I still don't have the skill, so that can't be it. And it's the necro guy from the catacombs that gives you the quest... maybe, unlikely as it is, you get a different quest if you're not a Mo/N?
theclam
I don't think that it can be obtained through a quest.

Interesting, because that's a necro quest, not a monk quest. It definitely does not give Heal Other.
Afaik, no quest gives it.

There are a lot of things that are out of date, or just wrong, in the prima guide. If you notice, a lot of the maxes on the skills are incorrect. I also found another skill that says it's questable, but couldn't find anywhere in the book the quest that gave it as a reward. Just a rule of thumb, take prima with a pound of salt.

Heal Other is questable. I don't know what quest gave it to me, but I certainly didn't spend a skill point on it. It's not that good of a heal for a Primary Monk. Especially not one with Divine Boon running.
Ninna
saying that its questable doesnt help anyone unless they know where it can be quested

This list hasn't been wrong for me so far and it isn't on there... so I'm having doubts whether it's questable. ** edit ** The 15 june update has added a quest near Lions Arch with heal other as reward. Holoman
June 15 update added a quest "The Ascalon Settlement" which gives this skill as a reward. The quest giver is just outside of Lion's Arch, and you will receive the quest after listening to the conversation between the quest giver and Cynn, Mhenlo, Devona, and Aidan.

I picked it up as my first signet of capture. The boss I got was above Yaks all the way north in the mines.
I think this is the best high level heal around, but that's just me. It's certainly the highest fixed amount heal I have and I use it almost exclusively when I'm healing a warrior. Inacurate jmsjags
Great counter against spike builds.
Inacurate
Well yes, but any Monk with a decent amount of DV and DBoon is a good counter-against spike builds too.
Using Heal Other plus the two above is just overkill....lol. But yes, a good counter-against spike builds. Inac theclam
This is a good skill, but if you've got a free elite slot, I'd rather take Word of Healing.
Inacurate
Why not take both?
Inac healer101
First of all u have to go outside of Lions Arch and wait there, for a while until U See that the group on the right is done talking, There some ranger gives u the quest, and u just lead devona, cyann, aiden, and mehnlo NW. And u can only take 1 elite skill
Yunalesca
heal other isn't an elite

Inac Wha?? maxed out Heal Other with high DV and DBoon heals for about 300 points and is a quick cast. How can that be overkill when your 500hp warrior is low on hitpoints? What non-elite is better at doing a massive heal with one quickcast? Jakz
thanks for tracking this one down - been looking for it for over a month
Jakz
sorry for the double post, but it can also be bought from the Skill Trainer in Quarrel Falls.

OK, you can get this skill in a quest from Damaris, who is outside Lions Arch, but you only get it when you've done the ascalon settlement other quests, this quest is the one where you have to escort Devona & the others to the settlement.
I wandered around for hours before finishing other quests to find Damaris, right outside just where I was looking for her. You might want to do the nightmare quest in the basin too for the "Archivist Ithimar", as I'm not sure which free's up the quest. But it's better than biying it when you need all the money to buy cap-sigs later in the game now. Enjoy. Jamski
Over-priced garbage spell. Unless you're a monk secondary, maybe.

I love Heal Other. In a Mo/Me Denial Healer it works quite well. Sure it costs ten energy but it heals for twice as Orison PLUS the Divine Favor bonus.
The31337Monker
I use this skill as my bread and butter heal. A tad on the expensive side, but when you need some heavy duty quick healing, there is no substitute.
Nathaniel Gladstone
Hey, I was just wondering if anyone knows where I can buy this skill, if they could please tell me who and where to buy it that would be great.\
TTYL, Nathaniel Gladstone (Mac) nightrunner
... Look up.

With Orison you'd get twice the DF bonus though.
The recharge on Orison makes this a good spell - at least until you get elites I guess. Johnsilver

You must listen to the npc's outside Lions Arch before she gives ya the quest. Devona, Mhelo, Cynn, Aidan. The will talk a little and then Damaris gets her ! ...
