the problem is everything on my desktop is messed up when i close stuff at start up it leaves drag marks desktop icons and quick start icons are distorted.
does this sound like a vid card problem or a windows problem.

Sounds like a driver problem, if I'm reading things correctly.

I have no idea how good BFG are, but there is someone else on this forum with a similar or exact same model card and very similar problems.
As part of his solution he has turned down the OC to see if this helps but like Nechronius says, it could well be a driver issue.
Just because the drivers came with the Card, doesn't always mean they will work straight away with your PC config out of the box.
Look for updates on the Nvidia website and update if possible. See if this helps you at all.

What card did you have before and did you fully uninstall the drivers before removing your old card and installing this new card?
Also, I have heard others talk about a driver cleaner program. Could someone spread some light on this please or where to get it.
This may help to remove any left over files that may be affecting the new card, if it is a replacement.

Weird. The first thing you should try is indeed the Driver Cleaner from www.guru3d.com.
Uninstall all your video drivers, reboot, then run Driver Cleaner and reboot again before installing the newest Forceware. That's the best way to really clean it all out.
If you're still having trouble after that, get back to us. You know we love to help. BFG are indeed a very reliable company, I rank them and Chaintech as joint #1 personally, with XFX in close second.
It could turn out that the specific card you got delivered has some minor damage, unfortunately it happens, but they won't hesitate to replace it if that's the case. Before we get to that though, we've got tons of stuff to try.

Principia hit it spot on, you may have a factory bad card.
Try all that, then start the RMA process.

ok so i undid the overclocking and it works fine now wonder if it's just that my motherboard won't handling the overclocking for some reason or I'm a techno noob (guilty). this is my first build everything else went well
mb is an asrock p4v88
new i should have went with at least an 865 chipset. If that is the problem that is.

More often than not, graphics faults are either due to Heat on the GPU or bad OC and even drivers. I go with a Bad OC as there is another Post here with a problem with the same card, and as you've shown, turning the OC down has resolved your problem.
I'm wondering if this card is meant for OC out of the Box as the company have set it up for and are you paying for the OC and would it have been more beneficial to go for a Card that is Clocked at those speeds without the OC??
Principa Discordia
Naw, BFG cards are stress tested at the speeds BFG overclock them to. They should work fine right out of the box.
Sounds like a faulty card to me. Unfortunately, it happens.

Is GW the only game that causes the issue?

well tx to everyone cleaned up all old driver went back to a little older driver now am running 1280x1024 32bit getting 88.9fps on counterstrike source.
So it was the driver and let me tell ya once fixed this card rocks set at factory overclock and there is room to go.
It stays right at 63-64c temp wise

Just an update to this Post even though you got it working.
This is from another post with a user with the same card. This is what he got from BFG Tech Support.
"Holy cow. So I called BFG Tech again, and he had me do one thing: change the AGP Fast Write from Auto to Disabled. Apparely the 6800 line is having trouble with it, and disabling it will usually remedy a lot of problems.
The game runs flawlessly now.
Thank you guys, for your input and help!"
I hope this helps anyone else that may have this card and problems.
