Chaos Storm: Create a Chaos Storm at target foe's location. For 10 seconds, foes near this location suffer 5-12 damage each second. Chaos Storm drains 1-6 Energy whenever it strikes a foe casting a spell.

The damage gets done however I have never seen the energy drain part work. Go ahead alphas, submit the bug report and steal the credit.....I don't mind.

When you drain someone's energy, there is no display for it.

I didn't expect it to show up as a number like the damage or healing numbers but I did expect it to show up as an energy gain on my energy bar which it doesn't. I didn't get to test it out as much in PvP however in PvE, it hasn't worked for the past 3 BWE's.

Energy drain is not synonymous with energy stealing. When you drain energy with Chaos Storm or Ether Feast or any other such skill the target loses energy. You don't gain any at all. When you "steal" or "gain" energy as with Energy Tap or Power Drain, then you'll get some energy. And there is a display, it's some sort of swirling sparkles around your character, it's just there's no number displayed which would be nice.

what part of energy drain makes you think that you somehow GAIN energy? they lose their energy but you don't get any of it.

Because every other time the word drain is used in the name of a skill, the skill results in an energy gain. (Power Drain, Energy Drain, Drain Enchantment) Using these clues, one would think drain would mean to "drain" the energy to you. Now since the word is used as a verb for the Chaos Storm, that energy is stolen by the Chaos Storm instead of the creator of said Chaos Storm.....I understand that now but it is an inconsistency that can easily lead to confusion.

Usually when describing a skill where energy is just lost, the fine folk at ANet use the word "lose" instead of "drain" such as with Energy Burn: Target foe loses 4..9 Energy and takes 8 damage for each point of Energy lost.

Chaos Storm is the only instance where the word drain is used to mean energy is just lost. Some consistency in the Guild Wars vernacular would be appreciated such as:

Chaos Storm: Create a Chaos Storm at target foe's location. For 10 seconds, foes near this location suffer 5-12 damage each second. Chaos Storm [causes a loss of] 1-6 Energy whenever it strikes a foe casting a spell.

That is why you determine what skills do pased upon their descriptions, not their name. If the name was supposed to accuratly descripe the skill it represents then Power Drain, and Energy Drain should be called Power/Energy Steal. And for Drain Enchantment the word drain has almost nothing to do with how the skill works, so I don't know what you would call it.

Well, if they are dumb enough to just stand there and take it, it does good damage.
