Hey, I was wondering where all the hidden skill trainers are in pre-ascalon. Well, they're not really 'skill trainers' per-se (not like the ones in post-ascalon) but NPCs that give you additional skills for your trained professions.
I know the Nec. one is deep inside the catacombs. I also know that ranger one is way to the south. Anybody know of the others?
Note: I'm not talking about the obvious ones.
Thanks
Edited.. to remove confusion

Necromancer: Oberan the Reviled, Catacombs, Curses.
Ranger: Aidan, Southeastern village in Wizard's Folly, Wilderness Survival.
Others?

There's the second elementalist trainer at the tower in Wizard's Folly, and there's a protection monk trainer in Green Hills I believe, near the portal closest to Ascalon City. That part of the game is foggy in my mind now though, I remember getting skills from different attributes from various people, but...who or where, not so much

When you ask anyone other than the main trainer for a certain profession where you can learn skills for that profession, they refer you to the main trainer. If you ask the main trainer, they refer you to a second trainer. For example, if you ask anyone other than Mhenlo where to get monk skills, they refer you to him. If you ask him, he refers you to the person who's name I don't remember in Green Hills County. Neither of these two would be a "hidden" trainer.
The hidden trainers are another trainer besides the two that people will refer you to. I only know of two, the ranger Wilderness Survival trainer Aiden, and the necromancer Curses trainer Oberan the Reviled.
All the other trainers are easy to find since someone tells you where they are and how to get there.

Yes, my bad. The one on the hilltop (Ivor Trueshot) on the way to fort ranik isn't 'hidden'.

Er, there's a quest involving Aidan, which offers general directions....and the map gives you a nice green pip pointing directly at Aidan. I hardly call that hidden either

Well, there is uh, I forget the names, but there are 2 Warrior skill guys in Baradin Estate. One teaches hammers, one teaches axes. Warmaster Grast is the main one in Green Hills County.
And I have found the 2 already mentioned above, the Ranger and Necro. I am not sure where the 3rd Monk, Ele, Mesmer is.

Now, here's our list of fourth trainers known so far:
Necromancer: Oberan the Reviled
Ranger: Aidan
Warrior: Little Thorn (I think that's his name)
...and, although he's not a separate person, Mhenlo actually does double duty, handing out the healing spells quest and a second, smiting spells quest, so Monk's essentially have their fourth trainer as well.
That just leaves Mesmers and Elementalists. Do they not have a fourth trainer, or a previous trainer that does double-duty like Mhenlo?

The fact remains, however, that none of these guys (Oberan, Aidan, or Thorn) are mentioned when you ask where to acquire skills from. Since your first trainer is actually the person you meet right outside the main gate on your first quest, and there are two more that people tell you about, I think we should call these other guys "fourth trainers".

You are directed to little Thom in the Quest "Little Thom's Big Cloak", to Aidan immediately after obtaining a melandru's stalker (yes, with a pip and everything), and to Oberan with the "Charr in the Catacombs Quest". The only semi-hidden one is Oberan, and he is pointed out explicitly in the catacombs quest. |
