It may just be me but, I noticed that you can't even give away the weapon upgrades like +vs Charr or +vs Trolls. This seems to be a shame.
When you consider those and effects such as "Infusion", it gives a lot of possibilities for extending the PvE challange.

Do people actually search for the +vs {creature} bonuses? Are there areas that I have missed where using them is critical?
If there are not, why not?

I see so much room for expansion in this game, it feels like it could be the last game I'll ever need to play. This is without even considering the great PvP aspect.

That's what I keep thinking Greentongue.

Up 'til 15 or so you're hardly ever fighting the same enemy for more than 1 level so it kinda gets pushed aside.

I think it'd be cool to have like 50% dmg vs Tengu or whatever so it really made a big difference.

Thinking about it, I would like to get ahold of a +vs Hydra item.
Dang things are such a pain.
Actually, using a +vs Hydra weapon to get to the Rare Material Crafter at a low character level would be Very useful.

Dwarves, undead, and charr are the only enemies we fight enough of to warrant such an investment into a weapon upgrade. I know I used bows specialized for use against all three. It was a nice bonus, especially vs the undead where I added holy dmg to my arrows and w/+20% dmg vs undead, +20 dmg for custumization of weapon and a max dmg bow I was getting up to 200 pts of dmg sometimes. For a ranger thats pretty cool I think.

The funniest weapon I found was a Scimitar of Pruning, which salvaged into a Sword Pommel of Pruning. +10% damage against plants. Yeaaaah.

Well, I was trying to capture elites in the ring of fire mission when a rare foehammer dropped. My guildmate to whom the drop was allocated to was so excited until he identified it. A rare max damage foehammer of pruning. We laughed our heads off in teamspeak. We even took a screenshot of the 'uber' drop.

If the plant based creatures were as plentiful and tough as trees in a forest, on certain maps, that axe would actually be valuable.

In my opinion, weapons with creature bonuses should at least be more plentiful at the lower levels where they make the most difference.

in the desert the troll and giant killing upgrades are very nice. in the underworld look for holy and skeleton upgrades to weapons to be useful...

I'm sure there are other areas for these but those were the most useful ones I found so far for PvE...
