Hi,
I have been playing the game for a few weeks now, but recently I tried to install the game on a new pc, I put in the 1st disk, click install and it says 'connecting to ArenaNet, it does that the then I chose the installation directory and click ok, the next screen has text saying downloading... so I left it for hours and still nothing. I Disabled my firewall and checked the disk isnt scratched etc and still nothing. I have tried installing it several times now and the same thing happens. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

There have been a few people reporting this exact same issue on other threads here.

I think it could be something to do with the Firewall. Which firewall are you running currently?

Also, sometimes just switching the Firewall off, doesn't always make things work. Firewalls can actually lock out the ports you wish to use and switching it off actually leaves these ports locked out.

Give your firewall details and we'll see if we can get you up and running.

Also, is it hardware or software firewalls you have. Or one on both the Router and PC.

One other thing, are you running a Wireless connection?

Hi, thanks alot for the reply.
I am currently running the windows firewall which comes with Service Pack 2, i disabled it through the control panel but this did not help the situation. I am on a wireless connection using a Netgear router, and i am not sure if it has a built in firewall or not..Thanks alot for the help

Can you give me the model number of the Netgear Router please. I can check it out online whether it has one or not.

Also, are you running a desktop or laptop and are you able to connect directly into the ROuter itself with a lan cable?

On the underside of the router it says 108 Mbps Super Wireless ADSL Router DG834GT. I have connected it to my Pc using a LAN cable at the moment..If you need any more information just ask..Thanks

Ok. I have checked the details on the web and it does have a Firewall built into the router.

With regards to how to figure it, you will need to have a look at the manual and try and set the Firewall on the Router to either off or minimum to see if this helps with the installing.

You say you have your PC connected to the Router. Have you done this while trying the install as well or was it when you were Wireless? Or do you not use the wireless features?

You can get the Manual from the Netgear website. GO to the Router Product page, and it was located on the Downloads or Specs option to the left hand side. It then gives you the option for Manual and Quick Install guide in PDF format.

Let us know how you get on with it, as this may help others resolve there issues if the security on there wireless Routers is affecting there installations.
