We all know that the robust guild system is one of the things that makes Guild Wars fun to play. But it makes me crave more.

We should have a way to make, for lack of a better term, 'interest-based guilds.' Not only could you be in as many of these as you'd like, but they wouldn't affect your status in normal guilds at all. They would also obviously not have features like adding a tag to your name or capes, and probably not guild halls. They would be there merely for people of similar interests or ideas to find each other.

Examples of interest-based guilds would be the Roleplayers' Guild, where players who enjoy playing the role of their GW character could find other like-minded players and be in character, the Barbarians Guild, where people who play warriors could talk about warrior strategy and whatnot, the Wall Street Guild, in which players would discuss trends with the Guild Wars economy, and so on.

Of course, for obvious reasons, guilds such as this are not mutually exclusive, and can't be focused on guild battles. So separating them from normal guilds is an obvious choice.

Is this idea a-go-go, or no-go?

There is something similar in R.O.S.E. where you have a clan (guild in GW) and you can be a member of one of the 5 guilds.

What other features besides just being able to talk to all the Trappers, Hammer dudes, etc. would you suggest?

That's the only feature you really need. Maybe having a hotkey that identifies them in your area would be nice.
