Overall rating of GW?
Crimson Wolf
Hey Guys! I'm just curious: What do you think GW would rate as on a scale of 1-10? I'm posting this to help other people considering whether or not to buy the game, but I do not mean it to be your decision-maker in any way. Just because someone says they like the game, doesn't mean everyone else will too. Oh, and since people's opinions vary, please post some pro's and con's of GW if you can think of any. Just to help out those I mentioned earlier. By the way, I give GW a 10!
tidu
I'd say 9. It's got a couple problems, but I like it more than other mmo's.
Chance Folly
8.5. I'd give it a 9 or a 10, but all the immature people who play forced me to lower my grade.
relientK_fan
9.5. Only reason it's not a 10 is because there isn't a bunch of armors and weapons, etc. to fiddle with.

I don't know...Maybe it's because our guild hasn't gotten to GvG yet, but it's getting to be a bit boring. 8.5/10
Adaria
I'd give it an 8.7/10 if I had to rate it, I love Guild Wars to death but I believe part of it is the players themselves and some of the things that bother me about the game, I love it otherwise though. XD
gwden
First couple of times I beat it, I'd give it a 10. Now that i'm forced to grind, I rarely play, so now it's a 5 (for awesome gfx).

Really depends on your class IMO. Although the game is fairly balanced it has its classes that are below par. So for my ratings:
as a R/Me 10 (for fun factor) 3 (for "grouping" and grp persective of the class)
as a W/Mo 9 (for easyier play and finding grps failry easy as well)
as a Mo/?? 10 (for having most people treat you like a god (unless they die )and being able to charge groups to get you to join)
dont know about the other classes.

I'd give it a 8.5/10 for the PVE part. I think the PVE part is a bit short and to me the replay value isn't very high. I don't feel like doing all the missions and quests all over again. As for PVP, I'm not that big of a PVP fan so I'm not going to judge it.
Guardian Legend
9/10. I have a lot of gripes with the game, but it doesn't keep it from being incredible Mainly I think this game absolutely requires voice chat, and that it should've been integrated so the mainstream would not be left behind. Ideally I would have probably just slowed the game pace down, with less information awareness and overload, so that voice chat would be less necessary.

Overall?
I'll break it down first. 1 being horrible 5 being average 10 being perfect.
Graphics: 5 (They're not ugly but that's because everything gets blurred. I HATE the blurring.. and the lighting.)
Gameplay: 8
Sound: 9
Durability: 6 (How long it lasts.)
PVE: 5
PVP: 9
So.. 7.
It may be up to snuff with other single player 50 dollar RPGs but guildwars was HEAVILY marketed as an MMORPG without subscription fees. In that, it does not deliver. In fact, guildwars is an utter dissapointment compaired to what it could have been.

Being that this is a GW forum, it's sort of no-brainer what people are going to rate it as. I'd definately pick it up to give it a test drive and judge for yourself
I'd give it a 7.5/8.
From a PvE MMO perspective, IMHO it's not as immersive as I'd like, the instanced areas feel lonely, the 'town' areas feel like a bunch of people standing around or dancing, and there really isn't any crafting or ecomony.
On the plus side, it's very pretty graphics wise, a game you can very easily jump in and play, simple interface, decent gameplay, and no monthly charge.
I haven't spent much time in PvP since I wanna use my character I've been leveling but she's not quite there yet. I don't really enjoy using PvP premade templates.... but there's alot of people who do

If you cleared the map and did quests, and not just ran the missions, you'll have got more than 50 hours out of the game, easy. That's twice what most single-player rpg's give you these days, at the same price.
If you powerlevelled your way through with uber friends, and only did the missions... then you've not really seen the PvE.

A thought just struck me - try turning off anti-aliasing. That may be the cause of your blurriness problem.
Me, I'll give GW 7.5 - 8/10, on a scale where 10 is Planescape: Torment and 1 is Neverwinter Nights. The main thing I'd like to see improved is the role-playing aspect - give me pubs, shady characters, henchmen with personality (and agendas)...
Burem
Most people dont want to do quests that have worthless (especially post-ascension) rewards. That's like saying "Hey guyz, if you do EVERY quest in everquest 2 its like.. 100000 hours of gameplay lolz.".
Mina
I'd give it a 7/10. only because it gets boring after awhile on PvE.
I did most if not all solo with henchmen. Some of the tougher i did with extremely good groups who had great teamt work.
Stuck on ring of fire due to mistakes made by players.

...plus, to put a positive spin on things, if you feel that 50+ hours of PvE is too short, then the game MUST be good!
Mina
Game needs a ton of more quests, more armor and weapons choices, better crafting and so on.
Jab
For me I think I would give it a 8 out of 10. It's good but it's very easy to get burned out playing it for me anyway, since majority of non mission quests are the same. And so far the pvp hasn't really gotten me into it yet.

It depends. When i first got it i thought it was genius, but now not so much. The PvE ends up sucking for the most part (the same thing over and over, and its not terribly challenging), although the PvP is enjoyable. When i compare this to my past fav multiplayer game, CS:S it really sucks though. If this game wasn't so damned addicting overall though i wouldn't still be playing it. I'll give it about a 6 or 7.
That said, if some of the updates start improving the game (instead of making things twice as annoying), i would rate it better overall.

Loviatar
i will give it a 8.5 for now but i expect it to go up as things get ironed out and more content is added
Mina
This game seems to be like Quake, Doom, or Unreal in terms of style. I mean, its a pvp game with PvE added for spice.
hassoon
6.5 no real depth, hopefully thay will change after all its only been out a little over a month.
Crimson Wolf
Well it seems that overall GW seems to be satisfactory with everyone so far. Anyone else have any other perspectives?
Bezerker
7/10 why? Il explain:
I dont like seeing a creature twice with just a differend name, (for ex. a Plague devourer and a devourer in the desert look exactly the same & just giving it a different colour? i dont think so.).
Weapons, bonusses on them etc. Could be more, same goes with the weapons that a flachion for example looks exactly the same as a tribal blade. Lets be honest now, thats really not original. And what i mean with could be more is that a purple sword can have as much bonusses as a rare one (for ex +14% dmg vs hexed foes or etc) A rare sword or any item should have more then 1 bonus (without upgrade items forged into it)
Same goes for the Armors, could be more and no special bonusses on armors whatsoever.
Also tbh, i think there should be sets of armor that give bonusses that you must find or win with a quest & that you should have more attribute points, i dont even use any of my 2nd profession skills simply because my 1st profession takes them all (i know thats a matter of choice but it would be nice to have more points)
For the rest Guild Wars is a good game, only it still needs some work here & there imo.

I would rate the game 8.5-9.0/10. I think it depends partly on what a person is looking for from the game itself. I'm more of a casual gamer that doesn't have time to spend large chunks of time playing. I'm able to enter explore or do a mission in a reasonable amount of time and feel like I've gotten something accomplished. I'm not a fan of PvP, so no comments there. I haven't had much difficulty finding groups to join however sometimes the people you randomly group with can leave lots to be desired.

If you asked me this question two months ago, I would've answer the question like this: I give Guild Wars a 9.5/10, it's perfect but needs some polishing of the ruff edges.
You ask me now and it's a diferent story. I say 8.5/10, the complaining has really made be feel bad about the community. I still love this game, and I know as things settle down, it will inprove and most likely my score will return to it's once grand scale.

Ok here is my 2 cents worth.
Ahem.......
This game at first glance catches you by surprise, when you first play the game you expect to find the same cookie cutters game play style as in other MMORPG's, IE: UO, EQ, and WOW. But you don't. there are some major differences, like the lvl cap of 20 , the instanced game play, and the fact that only you character can wear the armor that you crafted....
At first this was like a breath of fresh air....... At first.
Now after playing through all of the BWE's and playing the full version when ever I get any free time IE: after work, I yern for the days of being able to move up past lvl 20 ( Hell the monsters you fight are upwards of lvl 25-30! why can't we?)... and being able to see the dmg totals in the character profile like in Diablo II, and other ROBUST RPG's where you can see the the increase in dmg everytime you increase the number of your str, or linked attribute points.....
Don't get me wrong I still think GW is a very good game , its just after really getting into the game the buzz has worn off.....I really hope that Arena Net makes some changes to the basics when they start to beta the expansions. you know to at least keep the old school RPG gamers still interested in their new game. I mean hell my guild still plays Diablo I, and Diablo II - LoD regularly, reason why its ***BECAUSE*** of the grind thats involved with making your kick ass character. Heck...Grinding lvls Good bad or indifferent keeps players playing to get their characters as godly as possible its the thrill of competetion you always have to be able to brag how much better your character is compared to your friends, whether it be a godly weapon or armor, or your stats are maxed and your dmg is through the roof. RPG gamers want people to see their characters and say "WOW I want to make my character as Godly as that Guys!"
Well thats my 2 Cents Worth.
Over all I give Guild Wars a 7 simply for originality, cuz after that wears off its really a 5 compared to other robust RPG's.

There is no such thing as a perfect community.
And for me its too early to rate it. So many things I have to do yet

(See Above ^) Wow! You seem very opinionated and intelligent, I must say Kaos. Well, you seem to be the lowest rating, but I can understand the reason why you rate it the way you did. Thanks for that.
