On another note....

I read with excitement that unlike Lineage 2 or Warcraft there wont be the need in Guild Wars to play 7 days a week 24 hours a day to LvL up,this is music to my ears however it says we will have to buy our LvL ups will this still mean it will take hours of game play per week to become highly skilled

Im not sure what you mean by buy your level ups, but yes, the grind is quite low. Ive a few friends that made it to level 15 out of 20 in two days during the Beta Weekend. Mind you they also did other things, like test out Cookie-Cutters and fulfill their bloodthirst in the tombs and arena.

Thanks for your reply ........well the thing is i have only played Lineage before and it kinda takes ages for you to get anywhere near level 20 by ages i mean at least 2 weeks of part time play (damm work) still as you say your friends managed to reach level 15 in 2 days so theres hope for me yet.

I personally made it to level 8-10 (I can't remember because I didn't really care that much) out of the last weekend event, and that was taking my time- I did a lot of time with other pursuits- Getting the money to start the guild, doing PvP and some GvG...
Really, I didn't find myself worrying about it much, which is a lovely change from the normal MMO way of holding the levels back on you.

There are only 20 levels. And they are very easy to come by. It will take the very most casual gamer (less than an hour a day) a month to hit the max level. The more "hardcore" gamers will more than likely get it in 3.
For every level, you get a few attribute points. I'm not sure of the exact number per level but by 20, you will have 200 of them. You use these to "buy" attribute levels of your choice. The cost of each level is the level... Er... That's confusing... Ok... Attribute level 2 costs 2 attribute points. Attribute level 7 costs 7 attribute points. So if you have level 2 in Marksmanship, then you have used 3 attribute points (1 + 2). This is why it's a lot better to go into only about 2 to 4 attributes really strongely rather than having mediocre levels in all of them.
-Have fun.

You are certianly just confusing him :P
It's also not true once you get past level 7, where level 8 costs 9 points, and level 12 costs 20 points. After 7 it's like the level plus the fibonacci sequence's Nth value (N being the level minus 6, because it starts at the second one and not the first)
My correction of your explanation is of course just as confusing though...
Anyways, about other things... I dont' know what you mean by "buy" level ups.
You gain X experience to get to Y level, and gain a certain amount of attribute points each level up, which you can invest in your attributes. You also gain one skill point each level which allows you to learn another skill. (there are many other ways to earn skill points too, though)
It does not cost any money to level up, you don't need to see a trainer or anything (trainers givey ou skills, but you can also get skills fomr other ways too).
The only thing that costs gold/resources is of course physical items and equipment, Such as armor, runes (armor upgrades), weapons and dye.
CURRENTLY it takes fast, rather dedicated people (hardcore gamers), who have never played the game before about less than three days... NOT assuming he is playing 100% of the time. Not sure how much, maybe 10-12 hours a day.
assuming that, it probably would be about 36 hours... meaning for an extremely casual gamer (1 hour a day) would maybe take one month.
To Note: currently most/<almost all> the missions seem to take 45 minutes to over an hour.

Levelling to 20 can be done with inside a week of time with some dedicated playtime, within just a couple of weeks of casual play. Levels aren't what is hard to find.
To me, the hardest thing to find is your skills. I dislike having to run the missions to find the boss that has the skills I want and then hope that he uses it in a fight so that I can capture it. To me, that's where the treadmill like activities come in. But that's just me, some people love it.

I'm referring to the skill system in general. I think it sucks.
I would much prefer to go back to the original system, you kill a boss and it drops gems. I liked the ring idea.
I'd like to see the bosses drop broken skill rings when you kill them. You take the ring back to town and salvage the jewel from the ring and then craft it into a ring that you can buy cheaply to create the skill. (Or hell, just give me the ring off it's finger and I can use it from then on) I don't like the skill capture system or the gambling system. Normally in a boss fight I'm too busy in trying to kill the boss to capture it and I hate having to lose a skill slot to bring the soc.
In general I rant against the current skill system in it's current form, but I don't think anybody's listening.

I'm with you, Aladdar. I loved the old Gem system- I guess the Soc is part of an encouragement to get into a guild- If you've got some folks along willing to just bait and work over the boss, trying to get him to use that skill, I could see that working quite well...
Other than that, I see no upside to the current system.
Of course, all it takes is a consortium of people for rarer skills to become available- Somone gets a rare skill from the Exotic Gem Trader, should either start making copies, (Is it possible to do this? I seem to recall the feature being somewhere) and really any group or person who could do that could charge a pretty hefty price (People would be willing to pay a good deal for something they know they're getting rather than perhaps gamble away more at the EGT) and start getting customers, if it was a rare AND valuable skill.

The skill capture system is a gigantic waste of time and energy. Just ring everything. Buy the skills that you can from traders, and get into a gambling consortium to crank out all the charms you want. You still have to pharm a few more rings in the end, but whatever - you are going to have to do that anyway, just to deal with ring-only skills. Another couple hours isn't going to kill you. =)

WoW is a quest based game and Lineage II , like many other Korean RPGS, is grind based. Guild Wars's grind is not level based but based around finding the items you want, which probably wont take any tiem at all after a month cuz everyone will have everything.

But wont these be automaticly replaced after a short while for others to collect?
