Is there a counter to Shatter Enchantment?

I just got to Yak's Bend and the moment my Elementalist casts Restoration, a staple for maintaining health, it's canceled by the dwarven mesmers. Fortunately I'm an E/Mo, but it's annoying to have to spend most of my time staying alive.

Ye olde England.

You could try countering Shatter Enchantment with a counter of your own.

The only counter to shatter enchantment is not casting enchantments. Or you could try and interupt it, but that's pretty hopeless when there's more than one. I had the same problem with my Ele.. I ended up relying on Necro (secondary) skills for health instead.

The only counter to it is layering another no-ctitical enchantment over the one you want to keep - unless you are also a Mesmer and have Hex Breaker in your arsenal. Or if you're a Monk and have Spell Breaker.

Hex breaker is a very handy mezmer skill which stops a hex being caste at you and does the caster of the hex damage.

At that point of the game, it's probably easiest to simply stop using enchantments with a long duration, as it's difficult to avoid the Sages and it's not really worth buffering Aura of Restoration with something cheap like Reversal of Fortune. I'd recommend you rely on direct heals for a bit.

don't use enchantments.

and covering it up with another enchantment. i don't see the point in that, gives them 2 enchantments to shatter, giving you twice the damage.

Not really. Shatter Enchantment has a recharge time of 25 seconds and costs 15 energy. You could buffer an important enchantment such as Mark of Protection with a spammable enchantment like Reversal of Fortune, and when it is shattered you could heal with two Orisions. This would give a swing in health in your favour for the same energy cost, plus they'd be waiting for about 20 seconds until they could shatter another enchantment.

As I said, it's not worth it for something like Aura of Restoration though.
