Problem with a Radeon 9250 Card and Intel

Let me just be the first to say that Guru's is the best place for any help! Okay, now on to my problem.

I currently have an Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller. Now, if anyone has ever seen this card, it sucks! lol, I bought my eMachines about 3-4 years ago, thinking that it was the best and it is crap now. Well, the chip came installed in the computer and wasn't bad for the current games that I was running. But, recently, with my addiction to Guild Wars and Jedi Knight, I HAD to go and get another card and some ram. So, I went out and doubled my ram (now 512 with myself thinking about going out and getting some more) and a new Radeon 9250 PCI Bus (256 MB DDR). Well, I proceeded to try and install and, well, even if I try to disable the Intel, it just continues to run off the Intel. The Radeon, with everything installed and the monitor plugged into it, continues to show just a black screen and my intel shows the desktop. I've felt like I've tried everything and even had a computer expert of the family (lol, he really tried things I never though of) to try and he couldn't get it. So, I turn to the Gurus, the wise and wonderful Gurus! Please, suggest more than one thing and I will try EVERYTHING to get this Radeon going and my Guild Wars addiction satisfied! Grrrrr!

Oh, I run on a flat panel too, just a side note in case.

Please, suggest TONS of things just so I can print them out and continue down the list to try and get this card installed. Thanks

There might be a setting in the BIOS to turn onboard graphics off. Maybe there's something something like picking which type of card would be initialized first (ex: 1) AGP 2) PCI).

Yes, consult your motherboard help manual if it came with a bios. It should say there step by step how to disable onboard video and enable pci or agp or whatever you are using.

i'm having the same problem.

*EDIT* it's not my card. i'm convinced it's the crap-ass wireless broadband connection with cox cable, though a netgear wireless router.

Are you having a problem with the Intel, of have you actually installed a new card, and the Intel is still being detected?

If it's still being detected, have you been into your BIOS and disabled the Intel Onboard Graphics?

If not, then this is probably the reason the Intel is still being shown in your PC config.

If it's not this, then System specs are needed. Many thanks.

actually it is showing up rather than intel's crappy integrated graphics card. i'm now convinced the hardcore lag is from the ultra-crappy wireless broadband connection i've got by way of cox cable here in arizona. next week though....i'll be on a solid, stable connection since i'm moving back to california.

now my next question is...how do i delete my responses on this site?
