Speech Bubbles

I'd find it so much nicer if the speech bubbles displayed all the text a player types, just place a limit on the number of characters used at any one time.
I noticed they added speech bubbles in World of Warcraft, and they look really nice. It'd be good to make them look more like speech bubbles as well.
Speech bubbles beside, this is a brilliant game and I'm enjoying every moment of it!

I would also like to have a slightly bigger speech bubble since the current bubble length makes all speech look retarded, although it is hardly necessary. Prince Rurik comes to mind as he has a really huge speech bubble when speaking to Captain Osiric (sp?) when initiating the Gift for Althea quest.

What I like is for the local channel to have an area effect of lets as 10 meters ingame, and add a new SHOUT channel which will take over the roll of local.
Since it would be nice to have a direct chat with 3 people around me without having to party with them or use whiper or locals to talk.

what if 5 people are standing in a close range, and they all type full sentences, n the speech bubbles overlap.. must be damn annoying.

Oh, I like the idea of having an All Chat with two ranges -- in FFXI, they had something similar, "Say" was for those around you, and "Shout" was across the entire town.
As with the speech bubbles - perhaps, bigger bubbles, but an option to toggle buttons on/off, so those that hate them, don't ever have to see them.

i like how when you target a d4mned cleric, your text window shows the right text, but your text bubble above your head says...
'I'm attacking ----ed Cleric!'
'I'm attacking ----ed Cleric!'

All he's saying is, he saw it in World of Warcraft and thought it was nice. It's like if a Game uses an Elf or Orc getting all these bad reviews with people saying 'This isn't Lord of the Rings'! It's perfectly fine for games to get ideas from other sources. Actually, practically every game is an originised version of other ideas.

I concur. Just because something was in another game does not immediately invalidate it. However, we must be careful in choosing which portions of a game to add.
I personally agree with chat bubbles.
I came to GW from SWG, and I was amazed at how addicted I had gotten to never looking at a chat log. SWG used chat bubbles extensively and it really helped to streamline communication.
I LOVE chat bubbles because I never have to take my eyes off the screen to see what's going on unless I miss something. It's extremely distracting to look down to see party chat, look at another window to see my radar and map, look somewhere else to see my health and energy, etc. But trying to balance all of these during battle? Anything to make my job easier to assimilate all this information, I'll take.
And to the person who said, what if 5 people say something at the same time? Then you look at your chat window to see what was said...very simple. Though it occurs very rarely, except in congested areas.
You can set a limit on sentence length to keep people from typing a novel and filling up the whole screen.
GW already uses chat bubbles, so the code is already there. It just needs to be expanded so the bubbles can be bigger. You can even make them slightly transparent so they don't cover something important at the wrong time.
As for spamming, it is already against the rules. Screenshot and /report.

At a minimum, enable all of the text in team chat bubbles. Seeing 20 characters in the bubble is annoying. I'd rather disable it completely than see the elipses at the end of 20 characters, when it's usually a full sentence people are typing.
I can see wanting to disable full text chat bubbles in the local and trade channels though. Going to Ascalon would be a giant set of bubbles everywhere.

I want either this or they get rid of bubbles completely. It's so stupid right now to say something, e.g.
Hi, how is everyone today?
And only view something like this:
Hi, how is ev...
I'm used to the way UO does it; no bubble but the writing appears above you and there is a limit to how much you can type at once. So it looks like this:
ssssssssssssssssss
ssssssssssssssssss
ssssssssssssssssss
<me>
it 'loops' over within the set limit so that you dont get overlaps unless someone happens to move over you while saying something, and it disappears quickly; 'lol' will disappear within a second whereas "hey does anyone want to join me over at this hunting spot" will take maybe 3 or 4 seconds to disappear. The text also appears in your chatlog so you can check up on it once it's disappeared.

Exactly, similar to Phantasy Star Online. The cap on them at the moment with the ... at the end is annoying.................
