What would make guild wars better
willevans30345
Here are a few things that in my opinion would make guild wars better.
1. Mounts: Some type of horse or other rideable beast would be pretty cool. You might get an attack bonus from on top of these steeds and they would cost around 10 k.
2. More Armors: What really gets me is that whenever you get to a new city you should be able to buy new armor. I know that you can buy upgraded armor of what you already have, but there are only like 5 different armors per profession. Im talking about new armor, not the same armor you already have, just better.
3. Unique things: You should be able to find/win items that you cannot find anywhere else in the game. For instance, a unique armor set that only you have, or a unique sword that doesn't look identical to every other one in the game.
4. Dual Weilding: self explainitory
5. Economy: the economy of guild wars is REALLY inflated. A single vial of dye costs more than a set of armor! I think that dye sould be cheaper or more common so that prices go down.
6. Dropped Items: Monsters will drop their armor when you kill them on occasion. I think that you should be able to wear these armors. Now that would be cool.
7. Capes: in my opinion you should be able to toggle your guild cape on and off.
8. Guilds: There need to be more guild activities, and custimizing your guild hall is a must. its Guild Wars for crying out loud!
Some of these things may already be being implemitted, so tell me if im wrong. If you want to expand on my ideas feel free to do so as well.

1. Mounts: No.
2. More Armors: Eh, whatever, sure.
3. Unique things: No, unbalancing.
4. Dual Weilding: Hell ****ing no.
5. Economy: While I agree that the economy is inflated I can't really think of a way to balance this, there's just no viable gold sinks in Guild Wars really.
6. Dropped Items: Eh, whatever. Just don't unbalance it from the normal armor.
7. Capes: Agreed.
8. Guilds: Ah..sure, don't see why not.

Ordas
In keeping with the format above, here's my opinion
1. Mounts: Probably not. There's relatively little movement time needed already and it would just clutter up the game.
2. More Armors: Can't hurt. I can see this happening in expansions.
3. Unique Things: I don't think the Devs would spend time making models and inputting stats so that a particular model will be used by 1 millionth of the community. And if it isn't unique, i.e. uber-rare, then people will grind for it... and complain about the grind. I love finding new weapons and items, and I think unique or very-rare things would be fun to get. BUT with all the complaints of grind from people who MUST have the best items... it will split the community more than ever. Maybe if they add more items that are ONLY cosmetic, that might work out. People that work hard to find it, have it. You don't need it to compete at the highest level. And it could be a huge money sink since the economies going to hell. (see 5).
4. Dual Weidling: possible... but it might need a new character class. The lefthand weapon would have to be drastically reduced though. Something to trade off well for the energy or armor you're not getting
5. Economy: what coca-cola said
6. Dropped Items: Their explaination was that the armor dropped from the 15 ft 1000 lb Troll will not fit your character. Makes sense. Maybe they could make it so you could wear the armor but with drastic reduction in armor, depending on relative size.... actually that sounds overly complicated and unneeded.
7. Capes: yes.
8. Guilds: yes. actually in a Fansite Friday, Gaile mentioned they were working on it I hope they really do add a ton of stuff for a guild. something to make a guild feel more like home and something to allow guild members to help contribute to the guild (i.e. pooling money to buy a new piece of the guild hall)

Perishiko ReLLiK
1. Mounts: Mounts aren't really needed in this game... click, and teleport to needed area... meh...
2. More Armors: maybe different looking... but that's the point in the 15k armor... for the skilled players only...
3. Unique things: perhaps, but don't expect them to be any better... just better looking...
4. Dual Weilding: i dont think this should be added yet... i think there should be a new class in which dual wielding can be an attribute or something... (cross classing then, with a warrior for, dual axes/swords... w/e
5. Economy: The economy needs to be fixed somehow... platinum was too easy to obtain... you can only hold 100... so it makes all good items 100k instantly... like sigils for a while... superior vigors are already practicly there... it's just a matter of time before people start trading a key item for other items... and totaly trashing gold, except for crappy items/skills... *Something needs to be done about this*
6. Dropped Items: A human cant wear tengu armor... its impractical, and they wouldnt fit in the right places... neither would centaur armor (self explanatory)
7. Capes: perhaps... no need really... quite pointless.
8. Guilds: I wish there were mini-games inside of guild halls... perhaps a place where you can buy the alcohol here... and get "visualy drunk" with guild mates, while talking about w/e... perhaps an area in guild hall where you can have eight people join a team, and go head on head... 1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1.... i dunno... it would be fun... and usefull for testing different things... "area" of aoe... dmg reduction of "#" armor added... and other such things... Anything to the idea that we didnt just try so hard to get a guild hall for nothing... "They thought about adding casino's out of sheer popularity (even tho most were scams... i would like this... i myself loved to gamble my excess money away...)"
*a guild bank would be usefull... great for giving to those just starting new characters/in need of a certain rune... and what not... maybe not even a bank... and just something like a merchant in where you sell the items, and then a guild member can buy it for a discounted price... i dont know... something to the matter

A lot of these ideas have been already covered in great detail so please use the search funtion first. Otherwise I like most of the ideas, accept for the cape idea, if you're in a guild, wear in proud or don't wear it at all.
Oh, one thing to mention is a lot of folks in here are against any and every idea to add more stuff into this game. God forbid if you mention that you'd like to have horses or houses in the game! They'll reply with something like... "OMG if you add (insert your idea here) the GW server will start smoking like a chimney! And then it'll crash and the game will totally suck because the server lag will be so high, and we can't have horses because if someone in your group doesn't have a horse, then they won't be able to keep up!"
Infact I wouldn't be surprised if these people whole complain about everyone wanting to add more things to the game will start threatening to become suicide bombers and blow up the GW severs just to try and keep the developers from adding anymore to the game! lmao! (actually thats not really funny... )

1. No, the maps are too small to allow for reasonable transportation like that. Walking/Running works just fine.
2. No. The dev team already needs to work on a lot of their armor skins, add armors and such(like the necro elementalist helms and the ending monk armor which I hear one set isn't different from it's predecessors). There's really no room for things like that. Plus, the servers are free for us, best not push our luck on it
3. No. This would give more power to power players, and they already have too much of an edge as is.
4. No. With duel wielding in any game, you make warriors uber, which is never good. Having on two swords with the "Furious" and "Fortitude" mods would over power warriors, who could then get their adrenaline filled with their sword skill very quickly and kill everything very quickly.
5. I think the prices are decent. The only time you run in to a price problem is with silver dye, black dye, and the rare crafting materials. All have high prices for a reason.
6. They do drop their armors, and some of them you can wear(usually the shields). If they had this, then people would start complaining how a dwarfs armor shouldn't be able to stretch over a goliath warrior because it's not "realistic" enough. Plus, it would be a huge change to the game, not a minor one, and we need to get as much of the current game finished as possible before thinking of expanding like that.
7. Agreed. I find my cape annoying all the time. I would like to see the backs to the armors I pay 75k gold to purchase, plus crafting materials. Because of the cape, I can only view half of my victory, which I have worked very hard to earn.
8. Again, disagree. If you want more guild events, there is plenty to do. You can make your own, for starters, and can travel with guild member only groups for a lot of fun. Plus, you can go to places like the Underworld with guildmates, because henchies can't go there. Then you have guild battles, and ultimately you can go to your guild hall(if you have one) and just talk to friends if you want. There's a lot to do with your guild, you just have to think outside the box a little bit. As for customizing your Guild Hall, that would once again be a big update to the game, and would be hard to implement. Also, there would be a severe limit on customization, because there would be some people who would try to push the servers to the max, maybe crashing them. A lot of the customization has to deal with what the servers can handle, and considering they are free to our use, we can't expect them to be top notch servers(though they are really great servers).

Ah but this is one of the things that drives me batty about ALL computer RPGS. Selective logic. Sure, my little warrior isn't going to be able to wear a troll's armor. Makes sense realistically. You want to be realistic? Okay...
Why do scorpion-like creatures drop WEAPONS? I don't see opposible thumbs.
Why wouldn't almost every Charr drop a hide? What..are most of them bald?
Towns without any buildings dedicated to certain activities? Everyone just running around hollering at each other in chaos?
One dye plus one dye plus one dye equals...ONE dye.
Oh I could go on and on....the point is that saying my warrior can't wear Charr armor or troll armor because that wouldn't be realistic is kind of silly given the rest of the game's decided lack of adherence to anything realistic. Just say it was a choice made for game play reasons, sure. But the "realism" argument ain't gonna fly.

Duel Wielding would be great, however to make it balanced...
Make it like the ranger's pet, in a sense that in order to fight with two weapons you must allocate one spot for "Duel Wielding".
Your offhand weapon would have a chance to miss. Suppose it was under "Tactics". You have say 50% chance to fail attacks with 7 tactics or lower like other skills.
Only a primary warrior could use it. I really don't want to see a monk sporting two chaos axes any time soon.

Duel Wielding would be cool, but needs an effective balancing method. I like Racthohs' idea. Toggle Guild Capes on and off? Why? The only reason i can see for this is if you belong to a Guild with a s*** cape design. Then fair enough, but me, i like my cape, and am proud to wear it!
More activities in Guild Hall? Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes and an extra big caps YES for luck.
Mounts? They would be cool, bu ermm..No. Unneeded, unecessary, could be seriously unbalancing. Unless they were disallowed in PvP, made to be just a PvE thing, then that would be ok. But then, having a group of Warriors mounted on steeds would make the Droknar's run from Beacon's Perch so much easier (assuming mounts moved faster than players...if they didn't it would suck).
More Armours: Yes. Yes. I was disappointed with the Elementalist armour. Yeah, sure, you got the Pyro gear, the Aeromancer gear etc, but they all look the same as the AL increases. No extra bits, no different design. Buy the Pyro gear in ascalon and you'll look exactly the same with the Pyro gear from the Forge. Hell, even the 15k Pyro armour doesn't look that different...
Economy: This was seriously screwed when Rune Traders were brought in, in my opinion. I've found 4 superior runes so far. WooHoo! Sold for a max of 100g each!! It's just not right...the rarest of runes..being sold for bugger all. The only way anyone's going to make any real gold is if they find a Superior Vigour rune. And let's be honest, are you really going to sell it? No, because you've got 4 character slots and each one wants a sup vig rune. And Dyes. Whoa, what is it with black and silver dye? Ok, they look cool, but 4k for a black dye!? Damn, i'd just go for purple and be happy that i haven't bankrupted my life on a vial of clothing-ink.

Hehe, yeah, I sold a couple minor warrior runes to the trader for 300 gold each, superiors were going for no more than 100 gold.
suzumebachi
it's just plain ridiculous that i can buy a superior axe mastery rune from the trader for 450g. i mean, it's nice to be able to afford it, but how can people make money this way unless they GRIND like they've never done before.

4. Meh again
5. Just have an auction house.
6. How would armor that fit on a charr, able to fit on someone half their size? NO.

Good Ideas.
I would add a Police Force of some kind to the game.
Clean out these rude,scamming,vulger,slimy,etc...etc...type people.
"Walking Softly and Carrying a Big Stick" would go along ways in this game.

Stop all the whining about everything. We all have our opinions on what we do and don't like. Anet do there best trying to please everyone, but still no one is happy.
People need to learn how to use the Search functions in Forum Sites, as there has been so many of these posts now, I'm starting to think people have no idea how to use the functions given to them.
If you're not happy, move to another game. If you want more excitement while waiting for updates to come, go and play another game and then come back to guild wars. It's almost like playing another game again.
Getting fed up reading the same posts over and over again. If we pulled all the resources on this website together, we would probably have 10 posts total.

wilderness
if i'm traveling from ascalon to regent valley or ranik (basically anywhere outside of towns), i want to see other players on the road. maybe up to 12.
it adds to excitement. you can ask travelers whats up the road ahead.
TK
we should be able to kill teammates pets/minions.
we should be able to hit teammates up to 25% damage.
rangers can ride their bears/spiders etc.
you can rent horses from town to towns. cost 10gp.
then you can say "Look Mommy! i'm riding the Horsey!!"
"this is the bestest birthday present Ever!"
Armor
let us wear NPC armor. make a dye where u can glow like bosses. That golden or green glow is hot!
Dual wield
makes primary & 2ndary weaker!
Weapons
magic longsword +1 where just the tip glows!
Uniques/rares: drop rate 1/1000...1/500
Drops
you fight a bandit wielding a sword. if the sword dosnt drop, "bandit's sword falls to the ground & breaks apart....you begin to cry"
scorpions shouldnt drop weapons! poison stinger that only a Ranger can harvest for apply poison...
immunity
in ring of fire/fire imps etc should take minimal or no damage from fire!

4. Dual Weilding: self explainitory 5. |
This game already exists. Here try this link https://www.wow-europe.com/en/

1. Mounts: Unecessary.
2. More Armors: Yes, I'd love a bit more aesthetic variety.
3. Unique things: Yes but not super-powerful items. Just aesthetically unique perhaps.
4. Dual Weilding: Not that important. Okay if it is well balanced as discussed above.
5. Economy: Maybe change the rare itemness away from dyes. Dyes should be cheap in my opinion.
6. Dropped Items: Nah it's good the way it is. Maybe humanoids can drop armour but it would need to be refitted.
7. Capes: Definitely.
What I would like to see:
1st - New quests and areas to explore. New enemies to fight.
2nd - More fun bosses to fight. Really large creatures with special attacks like the bosses of Diablo II, but which require very well thought-out tactics to defeat.
3rd - More customizable armour and clothing. Uploadable logos for capes.
4th - A better friends system which makes it easier to locate where your friends are. At the moment I have to message them to ask them where they are. As far as I know at least.
5th - A new profession or two. Maybe a thief / stealth class, a martial artist, a bard / musician, alchemist (poison / disease specialist?).
6th - Robes / Hoods.
I'm still new to the game so some of these things might already exist.

Again with the mounts and the dual-weilding. Go play EQ or WoW.

For Dual wielding the penalty could be that it would have to be light weight weapons which means that although you would attack more quickly the max dmg of dual weapons would be maybe a third less and you dnt get a shield.
As for the mounts idea, how about a 'scroll' that sped the game up by x amount that only the group leader cud use and only whn the group went in a certain formation. When it was activated only the group leader could control the movement of the group and the moment any memebr of the group was attacked or even attempted to be attacked it would stop. I myself am for mounts & when I stepped out of preS ascalon and saw the strider also thought chocobo.
As for the armour thing how about you can take the armour to an armour crafter and he can customise it for you so it fits. I also think every professions armour should be open to every profession or at least your 2ndary professions, as it would allow far more tactics and customisation but there are penalties incurred for instance a mesmer wearing heavy armour would suffer a movement penalty, but this could be reduced after they have gained 10,000xp wearing it as they have grown used to it or something like that.
I also think they should have random mission generators that although you to earn money and experience as apart from farming, doing runs to draknors or getting extremely lucky with a drop I cant see how you are suppose to make a decent amount of money in this game. The way you could do it eould be that the group forms up and then the leader would approach the NPC and choose the difficulty lvl say 1-5 (harder mission bigger reward) and three choices could come up and the party could vote for which one to do then they all get the quest updated. I respect the fact that thinking up 1000 missions would be difficult but they could post a competition for people to think them up

1. Mounts: I doubt this is a good idea. I mean, we already need a solution for all those people getting runnrs to go everywhere and anywhere they need... making them go faster is not a great plan.
2. More Armors: Whatever.
3. Unique things: That would degrade the game, since everyone would just want to have these "godly" unique items and that would turn this great game into Diablo...
4. Dual Weilding: Not a good idea...
5. Economy: No, I don't think they should add armor to the list of fluxtuating prices. I mean, EVERYONE buys armor, so when you get to Droknar's, would you pay about 100,000 for one peice? And that's about 2 weeks after they change this... No, it's good how it is.
6. Dropped Items: Armor is customized (just like your armor) to fit the person. How would you fit into the custom-made and fitted peices of armor? It just doesn't make sense.
7. Capes: Sure, why not.
8. Guilds: More guild activities, yes. Customizing your guild hall, to some extent. Certain things in a hall need to be unchanged, it is a place of war.

You all dismiss the mount idea way too quickly.
A mount is not just so you can get from one place to another quickly... it also adds a wwhole new diminsion to combat (obviously there would be advantages and disadvantages to being mounted, perhaps some skills that are only usable mounted/dismounted).
As for the "makes it easier for runners" arguement... um... Does the word "forceful dismounting" mean anything to you all? You ride, you fall off the horse, you're dazed, eweakened, you get killed.
And the "clutter" arguement is even more bogus... clutter? WTF are you talking about? A battlefield is not your hotel room.
Anyone who has ever played Dynasty Warriors knows how much fun introducing a mount dimension can be for an action game (and this is an action game). There are places and times when you would rather be slugging it out on the ground and time when build a little higher up and a little faster has its perks. It's called "tactics", I think some of you are familiar with this word.

We need more pointless replies.
1) Good idea, and as has been stated can add a great new dimension to the game, but would be very hard to implement. Possibly for an expansion, but unlikely.
2) These will be in the expansions. I wouldn't want the devs to waste time on making and implementing new armours in free updates. They should be working on stuff like the auction house, crafters for the rarer items, fixing the economy, ect, ect in the free updates.
3)No. Online game with many people == unique items not possible. They will never, nor should they ever, implement an item that only ONE person can have ONE of. We already have uber rare items (crystalline swords, anyone?) so these aren't needed.
4) No. Unbalancing, unless the second weapon is nerfed to the point at which there is no real reason to use it. Like an extra 5-10 damage a hit, with a cost of 16 possible armour and -3 possible damage taken with a perfect shield.
5) This needs fixing. There are many suggestions for fixing it.They are working on this, probably.
6) I agree. Otherwise, why give them variable armour levels?
7) Yes. To all you who complain that you like your guild cape, there is a simple solution: Don't turn it off! This is an option to turn it off, not a removal of all the capes. Obviously not in arenas, but elsewhere, sure.
8) I thought they said they were working on making the guild hall customizeable. This is a must. The guild hall should be everyone's base of operations, not an obscure island you go to when you want a fight.
Age
Sleep mode please so when you log out you are where you are when you log in eg the Asaclon settlement and when you are doing the Villiany Gareth quest.

5. The Economy: The problem with the economy is that the value of gold needs to fluctuate also.
balinor limad
i think that every char should be able to chose a deity like melandru the monk should all have different spells depending on the god your charector serves the spells are supposedly gifts from a god i9f u serve a different got shouldnt you be able to use different spells?
Stormbringer
1. Mounts: Why not? If you buy them once and then you keep them till you want to buy another one.
For example, a dragon/griffon, who never fought he would like to ride one, or "fly" with one (the other players MUST be able to see you when you cross towns for example FLYING over it)
2. More Armors: New armors is a must BUT the prices must not be exaggerated, for e.g. FOW armor.
3. Unique things: Yes this should be a must in this game, but the stats of these rare items should not be exaggerated, for example a "400 armor cuirass".
To be unique I would suggest a customization of armor/weapons/shield, VISUAL customization, stats one may be ok but player always want to be the best and they will exaggerate (remember Diablo 2)
4. Dual Wielding: why not, two handed fiery dragon sword, axes.....cool
5. Economy: The answer to this is farming and since most places are narfed, the economy is screwed up. Answer: Don't narf the farming zones.
6. Dropped Items: You must of played too much Diablo, if u customize, this in not needed
7. Capes: As said in the other forums on the capes, YES to toggle button.
8. Guilds: Yes! Customization of the guild hall is a must.
e.g.: Creating - training grounds - assembly area - throne room -
9. Towns and Portals: Although the fact that if you cross a portal when you are followed by masses of evil creatures is a good thing, it is not realistic, there should be NPC guards near the city gates or even PCs.
In the same idea: how about making sieges of a city, when all players in the city must defend it, if they fail the city is gone and must be retaken...
This would solve the runners problem no one wants to see lvl 2-s in Droknar!
10. Choosing whether you want to go on private map or on a multiplayer map:
This concept can help new players to the game or even experienced one, for example: you are with a party and are in a desperate fight with some creatures but surprise, a lvl 20 paladin sees u and runs to the rescue, after the fight he proposes that you travel together the the next city, where he must get to. It sounds nice doesn't it?
Of course this Single/Multi must have a toggle system, since farmers like to be alone, don't they?
Chosen in controls or when the PC leaves the outpost.
11. Player created outposts??:
Imagine creating a place with merchants / skill traders all by yourself or your entire guild, making a museum that shows all of your battles on walls (fresques), creating some teleport zones from where you can go to some other places..
This concept has a problem though: Where can we put our outpost??? No place on the map??
12. Player created skills for rpg or pvp:
Skill trainers propose to create skills that are completely invented by players, the price of the skill depends on its power, for example a signet that makes u invincible for 30 seconds and recharges in 2 seconds, has an activate time of 1/4 seconds should cost 9000 ectoplasms with 50000000 platinium, isn't that fair?
Other examples: Making the skill an elite decreases immensely the cost, giving a long recharge time does the same, however, a cost of 1 energy shoots the price through the sky, a 1/4 activation time does the same....
This would be hard to create I imagine, and players in pvp should chose a no created skill arena/ created skill arena.
13. For Players that already have a lvl 20 rpg character:
When creating a new character you chose between rpg or pvp, well why not make another type, where the character is like a rpg one, is the level the player wants, starts in post-searing, has equipment like in pvp, he can chose his first 7 skills then go capping for more, can do quests etc.... this would stop the boring process of making another lvl 20 character when you already have one....
14. Warrior rune of Energy:
Minor energy = 2 energy priece= 5 k
Major energy = 5 energy priece= 65 k
Supperior energy = 10 energy priece= 455 k ( a war with 30 energy is almost a god)
Underlined = added ideas
Italic = What I think is a must in this game to make it "cooler" and "realistic"
For example, a dragon/griffon, who never fought he would like to ride one, or "fly" with one (the other players MUST be able to see you when you cross towns for example FLYING over it)
