Dancing your way into the Hall
Great Gjl
This is how teams can dance their way into the Hall of Heroes after trapping the sole survivor of the enemy team. Just kill him as soon as the WaW message pops up.
Yes, he could have just left the game...

ah, and i was wondering what people where doing.
have seen it 2 or 3 times happen.
later i heard about a trick to go directly to the hoh but couldn´t figure it out completely.

Uh, does that really work?
I had a group leader who insisted we do it and I thought he was crazy.

more often than not, it works.

I've been hearing more and more about people doing this, and have even had it suggested while I was in a tombs pug that we try it, though in some ways I'm glad we didn't. Welcome to the new fad exploit in the realm of pvp. Afterall, why rely on skill and teamwork to make it to the HoH when you can manipulate the system to get there ? Not that it does many teams all that much good considering they're usually slaughtered in under a minute once the HoH match starts
Hopefully this gets fixed soon ~ I know if I'm ever the last person standing on my tombs team I'd exit before I'd ever let another team use me as their *golden ticket* to skip the next round

First, it only works if you are fighting a 1 team vs 1 team match.
Second, it only works if you kill the last one shortly after the WaW message.
Third, this must have been built into the game for it to work, so quit complaining about it.
If a team is good enough to completely control the other team down to the last member and that member does not leave the game (usually a warrior that insists they are amazing survivors), they deserve some sort of reward. Yes, teams that do this may very well get slaughtered at the HoH, but they miss out on fame and Exp on the way there, so they are the real loosers, if they do not win at the HoH.
So go through your way, get your fame, and your experiance, and let those that think they are good enough to, jump. If you find yourself on a team that is getting this done to, have that person leave the game.
Easy.

I doubt it was intentionally built into the game. But I could give a damn if people do it.
If they deserve the Hall, they'll win. If they don't, just more greenhorn fodder for us.

This sounds like a bug to me.
Bottom line, If Arena.net deems this an exploit and you are caught doing it you are likely to be banned. Breech of contract and all of that legal mumbo-jumbo. In my opinion this sounds like a bug. It sounds like something that happens in a way that was not originally intended to happen.

I've done this before, once by accident. Didn't work one time but we waitied to long I think. Thank you to the opposing team member that was patient with us to wait until it was time to kill you. I would do it for another team if asked to. We all want the Hall, and just because it wasn't your time to get there you shouldn't hinder the progress of others. Remember it only works under cetain cicumstances, and with cooperation of the other team. Really how often do you think another team member is going to sit there and wait for you to kill them? Remember it just gets you to the Hall of Heros doesn't get you a win.

Yeah!
I'm sure it's right there in the original emote design-doc:

"All's fair in love and war" is an old saying. What's the games name?
No, It wasn't "sporting" to torture the last warrior standing, but exiting sounds like a way out. If it's a bug, lets make sure Arena.net is aware, and fixes it.

great. 1 more way people can exploit bugs and cheat their way past the easy rounds of the Tombs.

People don't think this is an exploit?
How can it not be an exploit. It's a short cut that cheaters get that hard working but honest people don't get.
At least if you do this 'trick,' be honest with yourself and admit that it's an exploit to yourself.
People that get run through Lornars are doing the same thing. I don't really have a problem with that because they're just affecting themselves at that point but this is like someone being run through Lornars and then going back to the level 10 arena in Drak armor.
You're cheating in PvP, which is cheating other real people. If you want to cheat against a computer that's one thing, but against another person is kinda immature and despicable.

It's like a cheat code to get to a further level in a game. Eventually, you'll figure out how to beat it even if you skipped all the stuff prior to it that may have made you better prepared. Lets say your PUG stays together a couple runs. They'll learn each other's moves and so on. Not that any PUGs are good, in general.

It get's them there past other teams that are doing it without cheating, if nothing else it gets them there more times in a single night and thus gives them a higher chance of winning it.
It's cheating, it does give them an advantage that other teams don't use because they're honest. Even if the gains are small in your opinion they are real gains obtained through cheating.
I'm not the most altruistic person around. If someone could hit UAS in PvE and play through every mission I don't care. That's their own game and in my opinion they're only hurting themselves but jumping right to HoH matches gives teams an unfair advantage in getting to the top level Arena in the game.
I'm not saying it's ruining the game, I love the game and this won't affect me greatly but I won't do it because it's wrong.

i agree that this is an exploit...
and player's can't "Just Quit" it breaks up their team! what if they were a PUG. its hard to get reorganized. And they shouldn't have to do this anyways. A workaround would be to give a player a /suicide option... but they shouldn't have to do this either.

I'm not ready to say it's an exploit, but it certainly falls into the realm of ambiguity.
Here's why:
You fight your way through Tombs normally, finally overtaking the hall.
You successfully defend for 1 round against both challengers.
You successfully defend round 2 versus both challengers.
In round 3, you are fighting the exact same teams from round 1, but they come in with the perfect counter to your build, and you lose.
That's where the exploit lies.
You can go back and forth on how "fair" it is to skip Tombs matches (believe me, I'd like a bye from the first few rounds!) but at the end of the day jumping to the Hall with the perfect counter to the current team ensures that the defending team will be fighting more and more builds designed to counter them specifically (and it's been done against us).
You could argue that it's just hastening your team's eventual downfall, but Tombs is supposed be be organized in a tournament fashion, and if 1 team is repeatedly skipping rounds then they are violating the rules of the tournament. They are getting more shots at the current champs without earning their way back up, and they are taking those chances away from the other teams that have to fight their way through every round. Period.

Now here is the question, how many judges does it take to disqualify you?
and by the way... you don't need to hit select twice, just start.

I have seen this exploit work in the ffa 6v6, unless it was just coincidence. I think it works about 75% of the time.
This is why some players will drool when fighting vs. a team with henchmen in HoH. You can keep the keep Stefan alive forever til he needs to die, while most human players will leave the game once they realize the other team isn't going to kill them.
One easy (but not perfect) fix: prevent the HoH message from showing up on the screen for those *in* ToPK.
This is definitely an exploit to me, and it actually cheapens the HoH experience. Most people think you have to go through a lot of rounds to get to HoH, when actually you can jump right there.
