Underworld Crafter info ONLY please

To start things off, I've been to the Underworld MANY times, completed many quests, and still have not found the armor crafter. I've been to the Fissure many times also, but that armor crafter hasn't proven to be as elusive. I'm making this thread to be sort of a knowledge base about the underworld, its mysterious crafter, and what quests must be done to unlock him.

READ: I'm not asking for info on The Granite Citadel armor, nor the armor from Marhan's Grotto. Every thread that I've read on the underworld has some moron saying "YES I FOUND UNDERWORLD ARMOR, ITS IN GRANITE CITADEL AND ITS 15K A PEICE". Thank you, but no. If, by the time this thread dies, there is a consensus that there is no crafter in the underworld (which I believe there is, since I've seen BWE screenshots of him, but he's since been moved), then this thread will be of great service warning people not to waste their time. If there IS an underworld crafter, and someone does manage to find him, please, direct said person to this thread or post here yourself with some info. Every little bit is appreciated, even what quests you've accepted and finished that DIDN'T unlock him, so we'll know what NOT to waste our time on.

I'll start it off. I've done all of the quests for the spirit that's near the statue in the ghostly village you escort souls to, the only thing that happens when you finish his quests is the spider is unlocked. By spider, I mean the pet that rangers can charm - the underworld spider, it's name was something along the lines of "Underworld Black Widow" or "Deadly Black Widow" - something like that. It just pops up after you finish the quests he gives. My group did one quest for the spirit that pops in the main labrynth - the escort of souls. The "Unwanted Guests" quest given by the labrynth spirit seems impossible as it spawns LVL 30 Invincible "Vengeful Aataxe(s)" along with the dryders that cast AE spells. I've been a fair way past the smite crawlers as well, but eventually die, as I just wander around there since I've never had a quest lead in that direction. I'm sure there are MANY people who've been much farther than I have, and I encourage them to post any information they have concerning this!

Any info is appreciated, as long as it deals with the underworld. Let's put an end to this wild goose chase!

Come on, some of you people have to have been to the underworld and done a few quests or something!

the Underworld armor guy is located in Fissure of Woe. After you finish the 1st quest there and are standing looking towards the open field of all the skellies and shadows, there are a group of tents, the quest for the armor is given at these tents (notice the red flag near the tents) Its called the forgemaster quest or something like that. Its a fairly long quest so be prepared to be there for a while.

Uhhhhhh, Underworld and Fissure of Woe are two different places. He said he's already found the Fissure crafter.

Not sure this will help to find the crafter, but last night some guildies and I spent a little over 7 hours straight on one underworld run.

Instead of skipping around to what everyone's done I'll just say the order of the quests we did.

The entrance quest from the Lost Soul to unlock the first set of doors.

Saving the Souls quest, escorting the souls to the mayor in the first town.

Then we completed the Unwanted Guests quest, this quest is actually easier to complete than the saving the souls quest.

Then we completed the statues quest.

We expected finishing the statues quest to unlock the door in the Labyrinth, but it did nothing at all. So we started doing the sub quests at each of the statues. Of these subquests we completed the hidden vale one, the burial pits one, and also the one in the mountain area...don't remember the exact name of it though. Just FYI lvl 30 undead puppy spawns at the mountain one, it is a boss but casts no spells =p. Then we were going to do the spawning pools quest to kill the spider queen, but upon accepting it we all died due to the quest being bugged. It said a keeper had died but our quest journal had the death of the spider queen in it (that we never saw nor killed) and the keeper was still on everyone's target. So we completed almost every accessable quest and still saw no armorsmith.

Thanks for the info, Mobdropper! It's a big help and a good start on narrowing down what needs to be done to unlock this crafter, or if he even exists. Keep em coming, and let us try to keep this thread alive for more information in the future.. a sticky would be nice, but that could be asking a bit much

EDIT: I've sent an email to ArenaNet asking a little question or two, though I doubt they'll answer me. I just asked about the crafter maybe being moved since beta and if he still exists.

Well, actually, some of us would like to solve the mystery of the UW crafter.

il solve it right now there is none never was never will be, lets see the pic of the old guy and the armor he gave out if you saw him once and hes moved now why didnt u buy it then fool cuz now youll never get it

i doubt there ever was a crafter there. give up. and give ur money to me that u plammed on buying uw armor with...

Yes, there is no UW crafter, only FoW.

i have never herd of there bein a UW armor crafter just the FoW armor guy

Well, myself and two guildies did the basic Grasping quest for the doors, the Vale quests (we were doing for a spider) then dicided to do a bit more including the mountain one with the silly lvl 30 hellhound. We then proceeded to do some of the chaos planes but died. Whilst I very much doubt the existence of such a crafter, I have heard rumors of a "second UW" based on one of the other gods eg. Dwayna attainable by clearing UW (which again I doubt). I wonder what the crafting materials would be for this armour though, perhaps the crystalline shards that are rumered to be extractable from a crystalline sword?

errrr; I didn't read through everyone's lengthy reply, but to the op there is no uw crafter. The only crafter is in fow.


lol; I just saw the date on the op. I hate when people dig up pointless threads to bump.

This thread is over 1 year old. when it started, GW was only a couple months old and very few had cleared the UW, since then, a lot of people have, and have confirmed that there is no crafter. Let this thread die.

as far as I've explored the Underworld... yes done all quest from the reaper dude... got spiders for my old guild mates... gone all over after that trying to unlock remaining chests..... I have NEVER seen any such thing as an UW armor crafter

3 years later, I come back and find that someone actually posted in my thread. Nifty.

Thats nice, but:
1. There is no UW crafter.
2. You didn't need to bump it.
