how dose the AL of a shield get calculated into combat?
i havn't found the answer in any of the guides i've read.

my understading is that all blows go through shield first then the reduce number is hit to the armor. same thing with weapons that have a Armor class of like +5 or so.

So basically the shield adds a bonus to all of your armor (or maybe only the chest? not sure), but only if you're facing the attack.

Basically the higher the AL the less damage you will receive. That's really all you need to know. To attempt to try and figure out precisely how its calculated will not make anyone a better player.
