secondary professions and the path quests

I read somewhere on here, and I'm wondering about :

The quests to change your secondary profession after ascension.
From what I've read, I gather that if you change your secondary from (let's say) a monk to a mesmer, you can change back at any time (without running the quest.) and then swap at any time by just going back to see that person again.

Is this correct??

Furthermore, if true, how does this affect your secondary class skills?

Would you gain all your monk skills back when you went back to being a monk or would they all reset? etc. etc.

I would like to know as well. I believe if you switch back you get all your old skills that you had when you changed secondaries.

Two things here. First of all, if you do the quests (which I suggest you do) you get the option after you complete the quest and get the EXP to switch to a new secondary profession. It is an option, you are not forced, even if you have completed the quest. Thereafter, you can go to any of the secondary-switching NPCs to switch to any secondary profession for which you have completed the quest.

Second, if you do switch your secondary (which I would also suggest that you do) all skills linked to your original secondary are lost until you switch back to your original secondary, at which point you have access to them all again. I suggest you switch at least once, just so that you can find and complete the quest for your original secondary profession (1,000 EXP).

Example: I am a MO/RA, and I did all the quests to switch me to EL/ME/WA/NE. Those were the only ones available because I was a MO/RA at the time. I switched my secondary to ME, and then the quest for RA showed up, which I completed and then switched back to my RA secondary. Total of 5,000 EXP gained, as well as the option to switch to any secondary I want.
