Form vs. Function

I really dislike the appearance of the pyromancer armor, but from what I can tell, most of the elemental damage I receive from mobs is fire based. I just reached auroras gate. Will this remain true for the majority of the remaining campaign as I was thinking about going with the aeromancer armor?
