Game cards? I thought we talked about this...
Ranis Harlequin
I know this has both been posted and talked about before, but I have to ask.
I went to EB games last night to preorder Oblivion which is coming out on may fourth, and he noticed my pre-order fro GW on the computer so he asked me about it. He ended up mensioning 'game cards' coming out shortly after release. Now, the last time this was talked about, there were a few conclusions drawn:
1. This is not true.
2. These cards will unlock access to special areas.
3. These cards are required to play Guild Wars (cards still aren't monthly fees).
I don't see why this would keep popping up, at more than one gaming store anyways, if there wasn't 'something going on'. Any ideas?

all store employees are complete idiots, i asked someone about the collectors edition yesterday and they said they had no idea what i was alking about( this was at EBgames) and when i told him about it he actually told me it didnt exist till i told him to look it up on the computer. he then said oh sorry it will be an aditional 50$ as it was a 100$ to buy. i then fought with him that it should only be 80$, anyways long story short theyre all imbeciles

Oblivion is coming out that soon? Woa... Talk about sneaking up on me! I'll probably buy it, but with Guild Wars... I'm not sure anymore.

I think I'll be too busy playing GW to even bother with Oblivion, which is a shame really. I'll still get it though. Eventually.

We haven't announced a release date yet and don't plan to do so for a while. |
As to Guild Wars cards, I've never heard of them before.

when will XBOX2 come out?
Soiled Egg Roll
According to http://news.spong.com/detail/news.asp?prid=8229, XBOX 2 will come out late 2005. This is just a guess, though. It just says that EA plans to release their newest Need For Speed Underground, which is plan to ship latte this year, for the XBOX 2.

they call the preorder a *bonus* rather than a separate item for sale
gamestop is one of them
as soon as the preorder pack goes out you cant upgrade or cancel the order

the latest i heard on oblivion (i will get it and i still have arena and daggerfall as well) is end of year at earliest
IF it were coming out in that short a time wouldnt there be just a little more advertising by the company along with reviews and such ingame magazines?

you should find out what they have you down for before you are stuck with it
Daemon
Well, apparently I am down for "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" so the only thing confusing is that it's a month away from release and nothing has been said about it...
Soiled Egg Roll
Maybe it's a surprise that only EBgames knows about? ....Or not

I havent had much luck with my EB store either. I got the pre-order and the beta key with no problem, however, they keep telling me incorrect info.
That the largets praty you can have is two people.
You can play "every" weekend until the game comes out.
Limitations and problems are due to the fact that arenanet isnt charging a monthly fee.
IF Eb\Best Buy\ Gamestop people kept themselves informed on games as some posters here. People wouldnt have alot of these problems.

It does stink that EB employees tend to know so little about so many games, but it's understandable, really. I know a few of them IRL. They're always complaining about how customers expect them to know everything about every game that's coming out, and they do have a point. We may expect them to know these things because... well... they work at a game store, and tend to be game enthusiasts. But the fact is, they're not paid enough to be gurus and there's nothing in their job description that requires them to do all sorts of research on their own time concerning release dates, preorder packages, etc. for every single one of the hundreds of games that they sell. They're just clerks. Like any other gamers, they'll be full of information on the games that they like, but won't really know much about everything else. What they know is what they can look up in their computers, or what they're told to promote by corporate. If the information they're given isn't what it should be, it's really not their fault.
If I worked at a game store, I'd do the best I could to help customers with what I was given, but I definately wouldn't spend all of my own free time researching games that I had no interest in.

I dunno EB Store guys that I've met have all been questionable, personally, lol. I don't expect a lot, either.
Hell, I was in one where ALL the people working (like 4) said that they liked the movie "Pitch Black"... I felt sick. I forget how it came up but I couldn't talk to them after, I just paid and left with my head down.
