E/Mo

Hi, I have a level 19 E/Mo (made 8 days ago) and I'm attempting to do Elona's Reach and I have a great teams in all I keep getting into, but I just keep dying, I also need a way to keep my energy up more, I seem to use it a lot and I need more effective strategies to keep myself alive more as I get hit on quite a bit.

I'll post my skills list below, I think I lack in the Skills Department, not sure, but still, here's my list, and I still have like 20 odd quests still in my Quest Log to do, but can't be bothered, even some are a load from Lion's Arch and such other early stages.

So all I need to know is:

- Effective strategies to keeping myself alive/hit less.
- Although I also like to focus on hitting some decent damage.
- Also a bit of healing.

Note: I focus mainly on Fire (maxed my fire stat), but I'm willing to deduct a few points of and put them into others.

Many thanks and apprecation to whoever gives me advice, tips, strategies and such on what to use.

It might help if you say what you currently use.

the monk enchantment Essence Bond is nice for regaining some energy
- place this enchantment on main tank and you gain 1 energy every time the tank takes damage (even from traps)

can be bought at the skill trainer in Beetletun (jungle area)

Find a warrior with sprint and swipe the crystals. Or any class with speed buffs.

I finished Elona with just running around, solo.

Of course, enemy placement also comes into play. I might have gotten lucky - aside from enemy positions, I wasn't hamstringed.

Well, if you DON'T want to run Elona, you can actually fight through it. The trick is to take one group at a time, take groups out that you KNOW will be in your way on the way out, don't feel rushed by the 30-minute timer, and go right first. Right is harder, so you'll waste less time if you wipe.

Oh, and another thing - These groups you're getting into, STAY WITH THEM. A good group will get better very quickly. When I got through, we did it on the 5th try. All of us stayed, and when we finally got it done, we did it with 7 minutes left.

A question and a suggestion:

What is the Ether Renewal and where did you get it? It looks cool, is it a rare?

The suggestion: Get a "glyph of lesser energy" to cut down on some of your heavy spell costs. When you get low on energy it's like a free 15nrg spell. I usually try to space out my casting so that I don't waste it on creeps that are almost dead and so that I can try to cast at the same rate as my nrg recharge (get a decent attack weapon to help with this)

Vassa Ssiss - Elona Reach

It's an Elite skill, use a Signet of Capture to obtain it.

As for the original poster, have you considered changing healing prayers to earth magic? Alot of great Earth spells that will help keep you alive.

Vassa Ssiss is near the top left (north west) corner. He guards one of the passages to the right crystal.

Ether Renewal is a tricky ability. I can get it to work brilliantly under the right circumstances, but when stuff interrupts, knocks you down or removes enchantments fights can go horribly wrong. I am not sold on builds using it yet.

even a couple of points in earth can be very useful, ward against melee is a lifesaver.

Ward against melee has limited usefulness in that area. The illusionists/sage groups can be big problem since they heal, suck energy and quake a group. Quick easy suggestion is to run with mending and watchful spirit giving you 5 ticks of health regen and drop a fire storm on casters every fight. You will need to move slowly as you won't have a ton of energy, but if croak the casters with fire storm you can use you staff damage and regen energy while the group mops up. Another group moves in you should still have plenty of energy left to unload.

They key is killing the sages quickly, saving the bosses for last, never crossing the bridge with the monk boss, avoid drawing more than one group at a time and get a good healer (preferably two) with you.

I know to kill the Sages quickly, it's what I always tell my Group, but groups I get into...unfortunately never listen and keep killing the Meleers...

I also use Meteor on the Sages, as they also gang up with the other people so I can knock them all down and do some nice damage and some Searing Heat, which exhausts my energy...so that's a problem.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, any others?

Oh, and:

To answer your question, Ether Renewal I obtained of the Elementalist Boss in 1 of the trials in Thirsty River, I used Signet of Capture and obtained that, along with 3 other spells.

Ether Renewal is an Elite Spell, for information on it, check out GW Guru's Skill Database on it, here.

I'm an E/Me.. I was stuck at Elona for about three days, mainly because a lot of the parties didn't want to do it the "normal" way (fighting through), but instead wanted to do the glitch, run past, etc. etc. etc.

I finally got into a party that decided, "We're going to take our time, not worry about the time limit, and just fight our way through" -- and we did. We strategized, took on about 3 monsters at a time (sages first, since they heal), and manged to get both crystals in about 10 minutes each - leaving us with 10 minutes left over.

As for your Elementalist.. Fire works really good in PvE (except the last mission or two, where you fight fire, and I noticed a party will an all water offense worked MUCH better). However, I would maybe get your hands on a Fire Rune to add attributes to fire, and then move some over to ENERGY STORAGE instead. The more points in energy storage, the more energy you have. I have mesmer as my second profession also, to use Inspiration attribute for energy-stealing skills. Right now, I don't think you have skills that do that, but in the future - you can change your secondary profession and try that out if you're not happy with being an E/Mo.

Also, make sure that the weapons/offhand items you use have an energy modifier on them (such as Energy +12) to get the max amount of energy you can have.

Thats what I was going to suggest to, moving some of your fire points to energy, after all, what good is all that fire damage if you dont have the energy to use it.

Yeah, I've done now.

I've beat Elona's Reach last night, completed Dunes of Despair (my last 3 of the trials), I've beat my Mirror Self, I've ascended, I've completed The Dragon's Lair, and we did the bonus of defeating Glint, I'm at Droknor's Forge now I think it's called. ^_^

i had the same question as you. i just made myself a healer for the sake of the desert missions. didn't really have a problem, just had to protect and heal the tanks. there is more than plenty of time to complete this mission.
