Playing in march, I used the /sit emote far too often (waiting for the others to join the game). Ah, I know my computer is GOD...what can I say and so I get to turn up all the settings to max (res, aa, ref, etc) with NO LAG. That's right. I can go running with Gaile and a couple hundred others on my screen...all at max settings...and it's fluid and smooth! So nice. Sucks to all you poor poor lag sufferers out there (I was one too once!). But enough gloating. Lag is a thing of the past for me. Almost. I can't help and think, though, how do we tell when it's our system, or the software? It sucks having people on your team experiencing so many problems, and when a bunch of people complain of the same problem, is it possibile it's not their fault? I'm curious as to how the game will handle itself with a huge influx of players after release. I will be extremely pissed if there is any down time with their magical streaming tech because IF I CANT PLAY MY GUILD WARS SOMEONE WILL DIE...argg...of topic, sorry. I guess that's the compromise for no monthly fees...

Has anyone had any problems with GW so far that they don't want to blame themselves for? What are problems we should prepare for? Be gentle, I don't want to start getting worried...

During the BWE they were streaming more data then I think they will after the release. A lot of the Data will come with the disk so people will have it already. And they probably did not have all the servers up. But I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Running GuildWars on one of the lesser systems (1.3 ghz celeron, geforce 5200fx pci), though I can't complain at 1024x768 this game remains a superior graphic phenomenon. The only lag I have suffered since dsl has been when the game is being prepared for the end of BWE event. Spybot Search and Destroy was having a conflict so it hit the trash and i got webroot's spysweeper instead. No problems otherwise or since.

The code in Guild Wars is one helluva work of art. It runs beautifully even on low-end systems, and still provides impressive visuals.

Unlike most present-day games, GW allows me to minimise it like it's another game of solitaire and open up my browser to post on a forum.

If your computer doesn't have a decent or "recommended" graphics card, then that's where my lag has been in the past at least. It sounds like you're running a decent/upgraded computer though, so I would guess that Drzzt would be correct in saying that it just takes a lot more data to get these beta events going than it will with the actual release of the game.

I agree, know the system requirements and the limits of your systems. If you experience jitteriness (don't mistake it for lag), then try turning your settings down (it could very well be your system). I didn't experience any lag on my parents line 27kB shared between 2 computers, so roughly 13.5kB download speed. And I've heard Dial-Up experiences little if any. So make sure it is lag your talking about (you will often see the rubber band effect if it is lag, I got it once the whole weekend, and laughed for a good minute). It was hilarious we were fighting char and a swordmaster type (can't remember the name) was one minute a good distance away the next he sprinted faster than Michael Johnson to me and bashed my head in like 8 times before I could move again. It was hilarious, like he was hitting a nail with a hammer, his arm was moving so fast.
