Forum Rules not totally followed?

A friend who also has an account here at GWG, was recently banned.

Won't go into details or specifics since that itself is aganist forum rules. however forum rules state before a user is banned he or she will get a warning first, at the very least. My friend never, ever, recieved a warning of any such kind. No PM's, no email, nothing. Goes to study up in the newbie forums and finds his account is banned and cannot access the forums.

We even double checked his email, since he has "email me apon reciving a pm" turned on, and he never recieved a warning. Of course if he was warned in a reply, in a thread, can't really read that warning and heed to it cause, he's banned.

So wtf? You can just be instantly banned and have no warning given, AT ALL?

They also state that any of the rules can be changed at any time. You clicked you agree you have no rights. They can ban you for having V in your name because they don't like the letter V.

He was probably particularly rude or had been doing it multiple times.

If you went into detail someone could tell you why he was banned. It might only be a temp ban as well.

That's the thing, there are no details of it.

He went to view the forums, as anyone would, and got the screen basically telling you your account is banned.

He hadn't posted in at least a few days if not a week or so, as far as I know. And had no PM's that were new (other wise he'd have gotten an email, we even tested this as I had someone PM me, and I got an email to confirm a PM arrived, this option is on by default and wasn't changed).

Theres no details other than just logging in like any normal day and finding the account banned, no previous PM's about warnings, no posts by the person in several days, and no emails with warnings or notifications about it.

I'm aware, it's their site and they can change any rule or anything on a moments notice if they want, but it's at least polite to find out why..

There are times where we do ban without a warning. Its a subjective thing - is it worth, for the community, to warn someone and try to have them straigthen out?

Best bet is to PM THX.

Like I said, include details (his name....) and someone can tell you what he did. I'm sure he wasn't banned for a stupid reason I was just telling you that so you didn't go into some sort of rights rant and how them doing this is against the rules.
