Please merge the districts again...
-(Hyper)-
Please, either merge the districts in Europe again or make everyone start out in the international district. THEN people can manually select the different language districts if they feel the urge to do so. The lack of players due to people being split up is ruining the game...
EDIT: To make my POV clear: I don't have a problem with different language districts, but I have a problem with the game forcing you to start out in the language districts. Let everyone start out in the international district and then they can manually join the other districts.

This is what people wanted, so this is what people get!
A.net will never change it back I don't think.
But I do agree with making everyone start in a sort of linked together district which people can then move to others could be interesting

People? A narrow-minded minority who screamed out loud enough to get Anets attention?
DrSLUGFly
and a small voiced majority who didn't object? Myself I like the change... it's nice to see someone other than Korea and America win the favor of the gods now. I've noticed that they win and hold on par with America and Korea now. I don't understand why people have such a problem wiht it.
-(Hyper)-
What? How can splitting up Europe possibly help people win the favor of the gods? And I see exactly the same amount of winning as before...
Finally, winning the favor of the gods is only part of the game you know. The other parts, such as questing, has been ruined.
EDIT: And the reason the majority didn't object was because the majority didn't know it was going to be changed. And the majority rather liked the way it was before, so they had no need to complain or discuss any changes...

I played the first 3 days having hardly anyone to talk to and I speak for many were is very unfriendly and annyoing when you ask a question or something in English or whatever language and everyone ignores you.
Spitting them all up it kind of a quick fix but it's one needed none the less. I know loads of people who have moved from the Europen server due the issues I have discribed above.
You yourself is now a minority who wants things back to normal... don't like it? Too bad... its A.nets game and they know what their doing.
-(Hyper)-
Oh you played three days in Europe? That's quite a lot of time...
The fact is, I've had no problems with different languages uptil now, and I've been playing in Europe since GW arrived. Now I have problems getting teams though because people are scattered around the different districts. Less players = harder to do quests.
And why do you care about Europe anyway? You're playing in the US...
EDIT: Actually, I must be a one in a million wonder child since I've been speaking English all the time and have never been ignored...

Please god don't change it back. I'm still hoping that the large amounts of English players that moved to the US servers come back. Not splitting it up in the first place was what destroyed the number of players in Europe. Occasionally the non english speaking districts will raid the english districts for random Pug's, but they never seem to understand what I say, including things like "Wait, I need to recharge my energy" or "Wait, I need to swap in my res signet" and are generally coming across as unfriendly because of the language barrier. Taking a while to play with people that can understand me and that I can chat with is infanitly preferable than instantly forming a random group of people that don't talk to each other.
momo2oo2
I'm also one of those "narrow-minded" that claimed to do the change.
Don't want to keep the flaming, but I can't see why could you prefer things before the patch.
I mean, now you can switch to ANY language you can talk. Before it was a BabelTower where nobody listened because there was strange to see 2 lines in the same language. And I see positive that lots of english-speakers are coming back to Europe.
But hey, if your complains are from your language districts being unpopulated, sorry mate but that is not an A.net problem. Im Spanish, but have my game in English (primarily since Im always reading webs for info that are in English and its WAY more easy to mee; from skill names, places, etc). Ok, the spanish servers are EMPTY, yes empty; sometimes in Ascalon City you can find 10-15 people, and no talk in Beetletun or some other settlements... With this Im not saying you must play in english, Im saying you CAN go to the district you want. If you dont get people in your native language thats not something you got before the patch...
Anyway I respect your point of view (something I can't say from you ). I was just trying to make you see the change (always IMHO) is good.

Seriously, do you think the US players will come back? I doubt it...
If you only want to play with people who speak english, simply join a guild, or state it in your text. Seriously, why do the random PUGs have to be punished because some people can't deal with other languages?
The districts lack players, and it's hurting the game a lot. Usually I could get a full team for every quest, even if it was a minor one. Now I have to take henchmen with me.
The splitting of the districts is what is destroying the game.
I don't have a problem with the language districts, I have a problem with everyone starting out in their own language district. This hurts the game, because everyone is in a way forced to be seperated.
Why can't it be the other way? Start out in the international district, and if you wish you can manually move to your own language district.

Actually the early districts are full of players, but nobody wants to group as it is easier and quicker to do it with henchmen in most cases, its not untill you get to Kryta that you find the amount of regions start to slow down alot and grouping gets trickier. I like the new system, maybe if they merged areas with less than 10 people into the international district would be the ideal solution.
Then if you cant get a group then its either that you have a bad rap or everyone has moved to the american servers.
That will be an issue in the long run, as more players emigrate to american servers as the want to try the high level maps that require favour of the gods.
Could end up with alot of players ending up on the american servers and very few on the european.
Going off topic, but they should open them maps reguardless and just have the favour of the gods increase PvE drops, i.e slightly better vs charr, and increase % drops of said upgrades, and / or increase gold drops and amount of cash merchants offer for goods as this wouldn't effect the PvP side of the game, but would help combat the migration of highend players to american servers.
The principle of GW would then be focused more on the actual guilds rather that the countries. The idea behind international guildwars is sound, but alas with language barriers and human nature it is not practical.

To Hyper: If you want a party where nobody talks, makes almost everything by rushing into foes, etc, now you can do it the same as before. I see what you want to point, but since none solution is good, I find it to be better.
I have spanish friends that play in spanish districts and sometimes I go to spanish districts and sometimes they come to the english districts.
I mean, you CAN change districts. Its not like if you were constricted to your language. If you find difficult to make a party in the spanish districts, ok you go to other language district. If you before the patch couldn't talk german, neither can you now. But if before [the patch] you could do a party with germans, also can you now.

Now if I travel to a Spanish district, and use English, how many will listen to me? Zero, that's how many. So, you see, the flexibility is gone.
DrSLUGFly
I really don't see exactly how this could hurt the game. If there's not enough people for you to group in your language, go to another district where you understand the language or go to international. If you dont' understand another language but still want to group with them then do it.
Why would you travel to a spanish district and expect them to speak english to you? would you go to spain and expect that?

Two friends and I moved to the American server because of the language problems there used to be. Now that the language districts are implented, we've come back and our problem is solved. We can find English-speaking players to team with much more easily, and the language barrier is all but beaten down. As a result, PvE sorties are more successful and more of them understand my pet being called 'Arsenal Sux'.
Thank you ArenaNet.

You're right, there are fewer players around than before, but I find the difference to be minor in most cases, and noticable at the most. They are, however, all speaking my language.
-(Hyper)-
The difference is minor? The player base has been split in 5 for gods sake.
Druadan Winterblade
No, it hasn't been split in five. It's been segregated into five by language, bringing closer together the speakers of the different languages. Previously all the English players were still there, they were just distrbuted amongst a lot of non-English players, making it harder to find them. Now they're all grouped together into the English district.
The real statistic to watch is the number of players by language, and see how that affects the game.

seriously, this change was brilliant.
it forces people to communicate in one pattern. by doing so, one gets better teamwork
the use of german and french repeately in groups that weren't all german/french was a pain in the ass.
And they can come to english districts, as long as they use english. I found this change the best yet.
it doesn't split up europe. it splits up the people that want to communicate in their native tongue from the general english crowd. and those were allready 'spllitting europe' when the servers were one.
and no, i'm not british.

This is only slightly related to the topic - but I want more communication hotkeys and functions. Currently it's pretty good - if you want to be healed, ctrl-click your health, if you're a caster and want the group to rest, click your energy, etc. (I assume these show up in other peoples' native language on their computers?) But a couple more like "Wait", "Follow me", etc would be useful. Most parties (even english speaking ones) dont type that often except to chat or in special situations anyway, so it shouldn't take too much to make cross-language parties able to work effectively with just communication commands.

I'm failing to see how merging will make it better for the majority. Bear with me here.
I'm from UK. I speak english only. Therefore I've been playing US servers because its pointless attempting to team with french/spanish etc because we can't understand each other. No matter how skilled the team is, communication is vital to good team work. Therefore, there goes the teamwork, we all die.
Now for the majority of people, having language-separated districts is good. Someone who can only speak french goes to the french district. Someone who only speaks italian goes to the italian one. They can join a group of people that can all understand each other.
It should make no difference numbers-wise... say there are 5 districts. And say there are 5 languages. Also say there are 1000 people on european servers. Now this means that before, you would have 200 people in each district, but all speaking 5 languages. So in each district you would effectivly have 40 people speaking english, 40 italian, 40 spanish, 40 french and 40 german. So ignoring those who can speak more than one language, you had 39 other people to group with. Now however, you go to a district with 200 people on... and all the other 199 can understand you.
If you have people on your friends list, well youc an still message them and meet up with them in another district. And I get your point about joining up with spanish/french/whatever and all speaking english so you can understand each other... but you can still do it. Maybe you should learn spanish so you can go talk to the spanish in their own tongue. After all, everyone in europe is expected to learn english, but us english (yes you said you're not english, im talking about me ) never attempt to learn another language so that, say, germans can talk to us in their own tongue.
UK people will come back from US servers... I sure as hell don't wanna help the US win the favour of the gods! We do too much of that in the real world!

i've said it before, and i'll repeat it: the system as such is fine - as long as the playerbase supports such a high number of districts. this is true for most of the bigger cities and for some of the more popular missions, but it is definitely not true for missions later in the game and many many small outposts. only one slight change and everything would be fine:
1. every town/outpost starts out with only one district.
2. once there are enough ppl to support a second district, all five districts for the major languages are created. and ppl are divided accordingly. make the default district english.
this is not the end all be all solution, but it will surely improve the current situation.

Merge that with the idea of grouping languages with less than 10-20 people in the international district and perfection is close

If the player base gets large enough, they can split it, but I still believe English should be the default, then people can move manually to the language they prefer.

I played on US, i'm playing on EU now.
If I can goto an area where everyone speaks English then great!
Nothing against other native speakers, I can speak Welsh, Chinese, a bit of German and some French but English is the common tongue and everyone should be speaking it.
I am not going to fire up team speak and have a load of French and German babble going on in the background. Period!
I 100% agree on the current set-up.

I am playing the game from Turkiye and i must say i am veeery happy with the change.
Thats not a guilt for other languages as said before on topic its all about to change your point of wiev. Go to English districts...
Some ppl have a strange point that English is not their main language and speaking in their native language is ok with everyone even others dont understand. God knows i never speak Turkish in team play even if 6 out of 8 in team is Friends from my country. It's rude...
Learn it ppl its an international game and the international dominant language is English not Russian, not French not any other. Youre just being rude if you do so realise it. And yes if they change it back to mixed district i will move to U.S.
I am not tryin to be a flamer but i am playing various mmo's like for 7 seven years i've never seen anything like this before. And making me mad.

Yes I realy think the splitting is a good thing. Now the english and the french wont have those anoying germans in there team, that arent even from the same clan and chatting like there old time friends.
True sometimes there are les people in at high levels realy, but than if it were international districts you would still have 5 or 6 players in. Cause now each languagae district only has 1 or 2 players in.
The grouping is a lot better, since the splitting ive encountered a lot better groups, yesterday was the first time i encountered anoying groups and that was in a low level area with my new character.
What someone else said, there are fewer people but they all speak my language is very nice and true. Normaly the germands spanish and french were in 2, so it looked like there were more players, but they our you wouldnt group with them cause they didnt speak the language
