It is always fun to gripe a little but I would like to hear something good about GW once in awhile. What COOL things have happened to people in the game, especially with other players?

Here is mine: very early on I was in a pick-up group that was pretty bad and we got mobbed. I was hemmed in by the mob. The other players ALL ran off to pursue the quest and left me there to die because they were in a hurry, EXCEPT for this one little ranger/monk who hung in there with me, trying to get enough monsters dead so that I could get past them to run away. We finally picked off enough enemies so that I could get by and we ran. Before we could rejoin the rest of the players, they had all been creamed by ANOTHER mob, lol. But I never forgot that ranger frantically healing and shooting, trying to help a teammate. I hadn't learned to use the "friend" list and don't have that character's name, but she was amazing. THAT is the kind of stuff that makes GW worth playing.

Home Again

Not a Player, but last night I was running one of those missions where the Ascalon Guards follow you and help you out. Half way through it, one of the guards says, "Are we there yet?" I could have fallen out of my chair. I wish I had a screenie.

I was helping a guildie and her friend (whom I've never met before) do The Duke's Daughter. When I did it before, it was tough, but not too hard. Unfortunately for us, his spawn point was in the middle of that Charr Temple... 2 bosses, 5 martyrs, too many to count of the others. We died repeatedly, but no one complained. Everytime we respawned, we were determined to finish it. Everyone in the group kept saying "one more try". We were all about 50% down on stats, but we kept trying. We finally finished the quest. Everyone was happy and our guildies' friend got his xp. It's not a 'special' moment, but it was nice to see everyone determined to finish the job and working together.

It was late, and it was a mission that came at the end of a series I was determined to complete. All I remember is that there were a set of like, five watchtowers to clear and then the base camp. I know, it's bad that I don't even remember where I was. Yes, I had marathon gamed that day. Don't do that if you want to remember stuff. :P

The party was awesome fun all along, but what was really neat was that at the start of this particular mission, we were one person down and looking to fill out the group and oh, by the way, has anyone done this before? No? Well, shoot. Guess we better get us someone who has...

We didn't have an "ideal" party composition, but this ranger joined us anyway... and proceeded to lead us, very patiently, through the destruction of each tower and into the bonus. He drew on the map, he kept us all patient while he pulled, and in short, was a very effective group leader as well as a guide.

Of course I reward him by forgetting his name. :P But he really is only part of the coolness factor--it was just one of those nights where we were all having fun, all on top of our game, all determined to work together and get it done... and he helped make it happen.

Nights like that make up for a lot.
