:::Game suggestions:::

ok... i know people will probbably disagree with some of these points, but this is my opinion and about 10-15 other people (i talked to them b4 i wrote this here)...
1. In the new 'expansion' whenever it's due out, we definatley need more spells perhaps a small level cap increase (say to 25 or something now to 60...) since it's supposed to be a continuation of the game (so i'm told).
2. More guild stuff! The game is called guild wars for a reason yet guilds, they give u a cape (if the have them) add a tag to ur name and if they have a guild hall, enable u to have guild wars... even the list is leader, officer and members (pretty bland if u ask me )... a ranking system within the guild would be good, more features and just more stuff (you guys did a great job in being inventive with the game so i'll leave that all up to you )... uhmmm yeah those are my 2 things so far! u just need way way more guild stuff and, it'd be nice if guilds could not only do 8v8 battles but have 1v1 too or 2v2... (if the leaders want to square off by them selves
just a few ideas!
Yoshi
:edit: A guild page for allied guilds and enemy guilds... you have a friend and ignore list so why not have an allied guild and enemy guild list... allied guilds have to be mutual but enemy can be one sided... hmm well to make a long story short (and when my brain is working i can list specifics) the whole guild section needs way way way more stuff!!!!!!!
:edit 2: In the guild hall there should be claimable areas for people... lol people in my guild want to claim an area as their own... also, the flags in the guild halls that support them should be made so that they are the design of the guild cape... (more specific ideas to follow when i'm not tired)

i already have to spent about 3 times 80+ hours (to get all 3 chars through the missions and quests) and additional at least about 100-150 hours of farming to unlock enough runes and upgrades.
that is way more pve than i ever wanted to do.
some more pve grind and i throw GW away ...
the pve should be a bit more rewarding for pvp players too (pve players are already rewarded by pve itself ...)
like:
finishing all quests and missions once unlocks all skills for the pvp char.
finishing twice unlocks runes for pvp chars.
finishing a 3rd time would unlock all item upgrades for pvp.
it still would be grind but the grind wouldn`t feel endless anymore.
plus: no need to nerf any farmspots because the pvpers wouldn´t have to farm anymore
but i agree that there could be more guild options.

The level limit will change, as I am sure. Because if Chapter 2 really is a continuation of GW, then it would be logical to assume you'd take your character as it is at the end of Chapter 1, and carry it over to Chapter 2, pretty much the same. I have, however, played games that reduce the level number to 0 when changes like that occur, so I don't know how it'd all work out. Maybe, the team is thinking of 5 chapters total, each allowing 20 levels...? Dunno that for sure, so don't quote it.
And I think everyone agrees with the Guild content. There definately needs to be a lot added to guilds. And I think if people have to suffer 2 chapters until the team finally adds something new(or big) to guilds, then I think the community would die a bit from it.

let's see if my mind is working... hmmm not really :P yeah... but as i said above... a guild needs within itself something like a guild ranking system for the players themselves... we already have rank and fame in our hero 'h' pannels but i'm talking guild... there could be points awarded for getting skills and progressing in pve... points could be a way of tracking who would be the next guild officer... mind you that all has to change too... points awarded in pvp and points given (such as /addpoint <charname>) (only leader could do that)... that's for a personal side of things, i don't know!!! (not the best ranking system in the world i know). There needs to be levels or something too... like how levels progress in forums... city dweller, professor, quite traveller and so forth (only obviously not those specific ranks). Ranks would increase based upon days in guild, active hours, participation in GvG and PvE and PvP and so forth... what i would explain would be too complex and confusing, but say different rankings of members can be restricted to certain things in GvG or something (what it would be i have no idea... GW people are pretty creative )... anywho... ranking system covered... more guild halls! i love the layout of them and it's so cool but we need more types lol... hmmm what else... specific guild items that u can only get in a guild... a merchant specific to each guild (more npc's instead of 4 henchies would be cool too)... controllable land in the guild halls... it's so huge and someone always wants to own the boat :P designate a line or rooms or something... (leader would have to also accept in a member/officer in 'owning' land :P... build a house or town in ur GH, Wizards island is so vast and vacant! put the NPC sellers in the GH too (i said that b4 didn't i...) yeah those are a few ideas anyways... u could have a seller too that u sell items too and ask a price for the item... the seller would have it until someone bought it and the gold went to you and partially to the seller (gold sinker a bit there too... put him in the guild hall and things he sells / has can only be bought by other members of the guild. There's many more things that are needed too but i'll let every1's imagination take over and i'll let the GW people go about doing what they have to do
:edit: Have it so that guild people in the same guild can face off against eachother for a rank battle or something... yeah that'd be a good way to get ranks... fight against a fellow guild member (1v1, 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4)...

Quick, short post.
World Map Sharing.
If one of your characters has explored an area, it should be explored on all your characters. That is my opinion on the matter.

News flash!
The level limit will not change. Not tomorrow, not next month, not next year. Not in the sequel. So sorry.

If you need visuals for directions on your new character, that's why you go buy the strategy guide or...you could go to a fine site known as guildwarsguru.com and look at their interactive map. It should last you get close to the end of the game.

I mean a shared map, but only for post-searing. I left for post-searing at level 3 btw.
Anyway, just cause a player can get somewhere, doesn't mean they can do missions there. I just don't like re-exploring post-searing ascalon when I make a new character.

I think they need to move the level cap up to 60 and do special pvp district limited to specific levels.
AllHailTheDead
level cap 60 is a good idea
ive read alot of people post stuff for improvements now itz starting to sound like WoW. WoW is a good game(or was) but yes they do need 2 raise the lvl cap because most people are 20 half way through

They don't need to raise the level cap, its fine. If you don't like being at the max level halfway through the game and it REALLY bothers you, then GW Chapter 1 isn't your game, and they won't change the cap. If they did, you'd get nothing. They give you the amount of attribute points they do for a reason. If the cap is raised, people in the further parts of the game would have to go back through EVERYTHING to level up so they could fight the same stuff they're fighting now, but at a higher level than now. GW is clearly not a finished game, it is just Chapter 1/ Chapter X, and the team might decide that you keep your level 20 character, and move on to Chapter 2, at level 20, and can then level up some more.
Kershent
No, they've stated in the past that there will NEVER be a level increase. The reason is simple: They will only have to create content intended for level 20s, so they can focus on just that.
Don't hold your breath for a level cap increase, because you'll be dead in a few minutes...And don't get your hopes up, either, because it won't happen.

If there was an expanision they possible would raise the limit by 5 levels... but then again maybe they won't.

Well, most likely if they changed in Chapter 2, there would be something else you would get out of leveling(no clue what it would be, not attribute points though).Maybe, they plan to add 20 more levels per chapter, and they unlock something new each time. Who knows...they might add something you get each level that allows you to wear a new kind of armor, with better defence and such. That way, people in Chapter 1 couldn't wear things in Chapter 2, which would unbalance the PvP among other problems. Basically what I'm saying, is there might be something you gain each level that makes sure your items aren't backwards compatible. But it's not like I ever said I was 100% sure they would change it.

Ergh, the people who want level caps beyond 20 are forgetting the full selling-point/purpose in playing this game. If you've read the FAQ this game was designed to have more emphasis on skill rather than time invested in the game. This isn't a battle between high and lower levels. It is designed to have all players being able to reach even grounds within a reasonable time frame.
Raising the level cap upsets the current balance. You can only max out two skills at 12 and place about 3 points into another skill with the current system. Mixing and matching you can forfeit your max skills and distribute it more evenly. Considering we only get 8 slots to pick skills, you would upset this balance by adding more attribute points as players are easily able to max out 3 skills and use the best of 3 worlds at very high attributes.

let me rephrase part of this... (and i meant to say lvl 25 and not lvl 60 ( i said now as opposed to not))... a small level cap increase to lvl 25 in chapter 2 or something... being lvl 20 after 1/2 way thru the game not only provides the challenge GW is (was?) so famous for is great in chapter 1... but as said before (i think in another topic) what would they do? make you lvl 1 again in chapter 2? you can't just go thru a whole other chapter being lvl 20 straight thru that'd be pointless... hrm... seeing as how this turned into a level cap increase discussion i'm gonna try to get it back to the guild stuff
thanks drslugfly for supporting my ideas yeah some of them... i wrote that at 10:15ish on a sleepless night before lol... And i'm not talking about just changeing the labels of the positions, i'm talking about a whole new ranking system where members progress from (example) say total time in the guild... start in newbie and work ur way up to a vetran or something else... rankings would not only be a way of better seeing who joined when but the leader could promote or demote them say too depending on how well they play in the game (seeing pvp or pve experience)... (my other suggestion... have it so only leaders can make people officers... since officers have the same power as leaders, they can promote and demote people who u may not want as an officer... i had one of my officers promote someone and he kicked 5 people for no reason at all... took me 5 people before i realised what was happening... (i got them all back))... back to guild stuff... that's just a scratch on what needs to be there in GW, but there needs to be more special things in Guild Wars too... (the GvG aspect)... it takes alot to buy a sigil or sometimes win it in the HoH... and as a leader or member of a guild having a GH is something special! Make in pvp GvG only, special items (nothing too powerful at all) drop from dead players... like a 13-26 bow... as i said nothing special and very very rare for them to drop (say in like 10 guild battles 1 person may get 1 of those drops)... the only current reward we get from guild halls is the freedom to fight other guilds... that's if they want to engage in battle too! Special merchants as i say and all sales NPC's should be in a guild hall too not just the 4 henchmen... i mean a GH is supposed to be home and yet find me a guild who'se in their GH other than to have a guild war and i'll give you like 10 platinum (i wouldn't even if i had that much :P)... Yeah, claimable areas by officers and leaders only... or u could have the claimable areas go in sequence... leader get's first pick, then the officer(s) and then the members... if an officer didn't want to claim a piece of land then they could have the option of passing the offer or something... i can see this topic is getting popular... maybe we'll have a GW person in here to comment soon

24 hr bump last one, it's still following the rules!!!

If they did increase the level cap, think about all of the characters that would immeadiatly jump to the cap. You still earn that experience. So if you had enough exp for level 25, you're now lvl25 without having to anything in the new chapter. Where the reward in that?

Let us say the level cap is 1000, hypothetically speaking, of course. :P
Now, what is the difference between a cap of 20 and 1000? Absolutely nothing.
In BOTH isntances, you are still gaining your skill point when you reach your new level. However, in one instance your level remains at 20. In the other, it goes up by one.
The most you could do, is more easily count the number of skill points you have earned past 20. But if you really wanted to know that number anyways, you already would.

Our maximum level is twenty and you hit that very quickly. Almost all of the content in the game and in the future Chapters is only available to Ascended characters, which means we don't have to worry about providing different levels of content. All the good stuff will be available to everyone. It's not our intent to force people onto the levelling up treadmill

I like your style, I like your moves Not too bothered about the level thing, at most just an increase of 5 levels but i see no need (as long as they dont increase enemies levels). All the stuff about the guild i agree. The ranking system and the hall themselves are a little bland, it would also be nice in the guild menu to see a bit more about each member e.g. their proffesions, their time spent in guild playing etc. I would love the halls themselves to have rooms (perhaps one for each member or just officers and the leader get a room to themselves, rest in barracks ) Some npcs in the hall, and an ACTUAL HALL, a big open space where you can gather(with tables and stuff in) some decoration styled to island. That would be great and i leave it to the capable hands of ArenaNet.

Whats the difference if your level 20 or level 50 or even 200 ? its just a number. Every game Ive ever played and they raised the level limit, ruined the game balance. Other than the way Diablo2 done it by recreating the game with basically the same monsters at higher levels to match your new higher level and skills.
Why try to fix something that isnt broken.

I totally agree with the need for more guild stuff because there are not near enough options givin to the guilds at the current time
as far as the level increase:
i can agree with both sides of the argument in the fact that raising it only with the expansion could well throw things out of balance
and at the same time i agree with people wanting to have something more to strive for since i have read reports of a few people actually getting to level 15 in pre-searing(really boring)
i could agree with maybe perhaps a patch increasing the level to say 25 or so and making it where you only gain a small(but needed for some classes) health bonus at each level after 20(no more attribute points)

Game suggestion:
I've read it before, but have some kinda way to save the 1) skills arranged in your skill bar and 2) the way your attribute points are distributed. I hate having to constantly switch things back and forth when switching between PvP and PvE.

:edit: lol i read the last comment on the first page and noticed there was a second page :P... the guild ranking system could be an option that would only be available to the leader. personally i think it's cool but who is ever 100% alike? every1 is diff and every1 has diff preferances. There is alot for room to improve and i'm glad to see that a.net reads these forums and actually takes these suggestions and sees if they can impliment it into the game... anywho back to the guild stuff, there's so many things in my mind right now that i can't put one out clearly right now lol. But yeah as said in many many other topics... an upgradeable guild hall would be cool... start low down and work ur way up... of course having guild battles in whoever's hall would just rain chaos for the programmers :P. Say for example u can upgrade ur chars with better weapons or armor in the GvG... the archers or something with a better bow... mind you that can off-balance the game greatly... hmm... well one things for sure... different kinds of guild battles... having the game win for someone by killing their ghost hero all the time is kind apointless because then it simply becomes a question of which team is stronger. (which i can see is part of the point of the game). But what about TRUE CTF or perhaps some other kind of game type... i don't know... once again, many things to do, lots of room for improvement and... what, is it update wednesday? who knows we may see some of these things there!

Tactical-Dillusions
When in a group, i want to be able to rearrange the people in the party list.
For example, i found that when im playing with my monk, i would like to place the warriors to the top of the list, monks on the bottom and everyone else in the middle.
Little details like this go a long way in my opinion.
In the heat of battle, if energy is a rare commodity and it's my actions that will mean the difference between winning and losing, i want to be able to say "screw the others, max healing for the top three!!" or whatever.
(Not that i have anything against other classes [my main character is a ranger] but they do squish better than warriors and a party could lose if all energy is pumped into a softer ally)
(dang necro tanking minotaurs..bye bye energy. Not healing people who are that silly next time!)
Customisation of this party box could be taken further too.
How about being able to adjust the individual bars in depth, not just length?
This would allow me to have the party box closer to my skill bar on the bottom without it blocking my view too much. (yes i know they can be moved/customised but it's limited)
This could be done automatically when you slide the size of the box. What's the point in adjusting the size of the box, only to have several members disappear from view?
Rotation of the party list so that it lays vertical may be to others preferences too.
OK, so there are a million and one things to do right now, right ArenaNet? I'm sure though that there is a few guys (or one vastly overworked one, lol) who is dedicated to little tweaks, upgrades, customisations and suggestions.
Well, it's my two pence for consideration i hope.
The world is your oyster and Bob's your uncle!

Is this a suggestions thread or a level cap discussion? Well I guess it is what the title says so I'll post a suggestion.
I would like to see some kind of proximity zone/cinema code. So if a group memeber wants to sit at the begining and go afk for the entire mission he gets left behind, then if he runs to zone he starts the next instance as one. It would be as if the group has mapped out on him. All team members need to be close together to zone as one group.
It gets rid of other problems like a member that likes to zone/pull the group out of a quest just before they get to the end, cuz he thinks its real funny. It aslo would stop the ablility to pull low levels through the entire game as a level 3, which I think might be considered an exploit. Ever hear of a cinema rez? The team is dead, but one is still alive with rez sig expired so he runs to the spot where the movie starts and POP there is the team again. Is this an exploit?
Its a new idea for me so maybe there are some problems with it, tell me what you all think.
