Hey,
Just curious if the bow grip of marksmanship activates if you shoot regularly while using a preparation such as kindle arrows or apply poison, OR does a skill have to be immediately in use such as penetrating shot or hunters shot?

Don't worry, kindle arrow and apply poison aren't marksmenship -_-.
But in answer to your question, I really have no clue. I think it's only on using an attack or attack skill not on using a non attack skill.

Hmm so you think it only activates while using Marksmanship skills? So poison arrow does not active it? The reason I'm asking is I want that little extra critical rate and extra base damage marksmanship adds. o.O

Umm wow I just realized what you're asking. Yes all attack skills SHOULD activate it regardless of their attribute.

Including kindle arrows/apply poison?

No. Kindle Arrows, and apply poison are wildnerness survival skills. They have nothing to do with marksmanship nor are they affected by any bonus to marksmanship. When you equip the bow with +1 marksmanship grip you have a 1-20% chance of getting that bonus when using only marksmanship skills, or when equiping a bow.
Basically you get a 1-20% chance of getting a +1 increase to the attribute that will affect the damage output of your bow and your marksmanship specific skills only.

it's easy to get confused by how the % chance works. here's an example of it at work: i equip a shield with 10% chance of +1 tactics. my healing signet usually heals for 40 health, at 0 tactics, but every once in a while(1/10, 10%) the signet heals for 47 instead, which is what you get with 1 tactics.
so no, marksmanship grip won't affect kindle arrow or apply poison or any other non-marksmanship skills.

Kindle Arrows and Apply Poison use the Wilderness Survival attribute to increase fire damage or lengthen poison duration only, correct? Physical arrow damage is still determined by your Marksmanship attribute right?
I guess the long and short of it would be that, since Marks is used to determine physical arrow damage, I would guess that any %chance to increase that attribute should be applied to all arrows shot regardless of preparation (since these just add elemental damage or conditions to the physical damage). This is all in my opinion, of course -- I do not have one of these grips so I cannot test it out.

I would like to know the answer to this as well. I think a number of people here are misunderstanding the question (Terik gets it). Yes, poision arrow is based on wilderness survival, but you're bow still has it's own physical damage, right? The question is if the 20% marksmanship affects that damage EVEN WHILE using a skill such as poison arrow, etc. (i.e. the question is NOT does the percentage affect the SKILL itself).

I always thought it was while in the act of physically attacking, but I may be wrong.

If you have a marksmanship grip of #% you have #% chance of doing more damage with that arrow...regardless of whether or not the skill utilizes marksmanship.
