This is kind of a gripe, sort of a suggestion for better drops.
I know the updates pages on GW say they made drop rates of better items better...but it still shows nothing good for me. Is the drop system in GW based on how many real people are in your party, like D2? But even if I'm in a large group, I'm lucky to find a max damage purple hammer with 0 mods on it(in UW).
Also, people are always saying how they "Only got 4 superior runes today."
Is my computer cursed? because I have yet to find a single superior rune, and I farm quite a lot now(you know, at the end of fire islands its really the only thing I can do to unlock items). Also, it is EXTREMELY hard for me to find any kind of wand that has mods on it, like axes/swords/hammers/bows were the only things meant to have mods at all. I use my Elementalist a lot, and I have yet to find a decent wand for her, because wands hardly ever drop, and if they do, they don't have any mods at all, and are lucky to be blue.
I'm just wondering why good drops are so horrible to come by for the casual player...because the only people I know of getting good drops have hours...and hours...and hours...and hours...and hours....and hours...and hours... to farm things, which I unfortunately don't.
Is it just me, or do drops suck now?

No, it's just you.
I get yellows all the time, and about 5 purples per hour. I cash in when I am done with a major quest or mission, and they keep coming. You must be in the same spot for hours and hours and hours and of course got nerfed.

So the real question is where are good areas to farm? I currently farm along Snake's Month in the Southern Shiverpeaks... easy mobs and ok drops to sell.
As for Gold and Purple items will like he said best thing to do is farm one area, then check another.

I'm a level 20 monk and have only gotten 2 yellows the entire game (I've already ascended and done dragon's lair). I've passed up about 35 yellows that just randomly rolled to someone else (even when I was questing before in kryta with a group of only TWO I missed a yellow and three purple drops. I walked out with one "precious" blue item).
For some reason I was getting something like a gold drop every time I did a mission with my 19 ranger, yet now I'm lucky to walk away with a full MAIN bag after a mission with my 20 monk.
A.net just hates monks I guess

Its just you , I played my lvl 15 monk lastnight, did some quest in Kryta and 3 missions, and found 2 gold drops(armours), and several purples, and lots of blues, I didn't farm yet found 3 minor and 2 superior runes along with purple and blue weapons.
I found a Yellow staff at lvl 10 which i still use, 10-21 chaos dam, +5 ac, +1 earth magic and 7% chance of faster casting.
The Drops from start to finish are actually better, maybe because all the good stuff is now evenly distributed rather than just farmed for after you ascend.
My first time round character has only ever found on major rune and that was after completing the game. (purchased game on release day)
Things have change and evolved alot since the initial release, such is the case with MMO's.
They are actually doing alot to improve the game, and as far as I can tell you can either scream NERF or look at it for what they have actually done, which is redistribute the wealth to make it fairer for the whole rather than the individual.

That makes sense Shadow Avenger. Too bad I've already gone through the majority of the game, ascended, infused, not rushing at all (as a matter of fact taking my sweet time), and have yet to unlock one single damn Superior rune. So I guess the only option is to start a new character and hope that it gets better drops while I go through the whole game again. Yeah... good thing Delta Force comes out for the xbox soon.
Drakron
I was so happy about my Major rune of Fire, I got it well late.
I found about two superior runes, none that I can use and a lot of minors that I also I cannot use.

remember that stuff "drops" for henchmen also (ie. doesn't drop). I've logged about 100 hours and I have in my stash 10 upgrade components, 7 rune (2 or 3 of which are major), 7 dyes and 2 (+1 I gave away) monstrous.... things... In my 100 hours I think I've gotten maybe 3 or 4 yellow items, maybe a couple more. But I've never farmed, only done missions.

I think that if u know a good place to farm, be happy with it, but DONT spread the word. This would cause all ppl to go there and major deflation to strike guild wars. Imagine the possiblity of buying black dye for 50 gold.

But it would be silly.
drops are random however so this would never really happen.

Complaining about your personal item drops is not a suggestion.
