False advertising of Prima Guide

Put it this way it doesn't even have a map of FoW or the UW let alone any details other then the rewards for the quests for the quest in those two.

The majority of quests have no description at all. Let alone have any help.

Its fine if you want help with missions but if you want helps with quests at all DON'T BUY IT.

While they make their guides "pretty" to look at. The information is most often times lacking. They always claim to have everything you need to know about the game, but when you do finally get into the guide you realize it's little more than eye-candy.

Gives little if no info really useful. This Prima Guide is just a way to suck our money. Very sad Guild Wars official site advertised it.

And, oh...eye-candy? A game guide? It's like a map that doesn't point you where to go but is beautiful to look at.

The tables are excellent. so are the collector information for every area. there are 5 typos though I found. I have updated most of it on reproduced tables in our forums in excel though. Also the Maps are a little more detailed in that it shows locations ON the map of creatures starting spawn positions. that helps you know whats around the corner and all.. Of course it can not show chests and such cause their locations change regularly. The back of the book is the most useful stuff... Not the first 100 pages with the pretty pictures and maps. lol But the Text and table content is good.

The underworld is not mentioned NO, but at the press time there was little known about it. in fact even at the last beta only a few went down there... and it has yet to ever for fully mapped even by a gaming clan to produce a map. Also the underworld is ment to be a BONUS mission. Like the secret cow level, in diablo. but thats another story...

Ahem, why would you buy that?

Your at the Guru.

Someone on teamspeak mentioned the "best" pet in the game over teamspeak, when they were looking at their guide.

I told them about the Spider you unlock in the Underworld, by doing a quest (learned about here). And then he probably died a little inside for not being able to bring any new information with his fancy new Prima Guide.

And why are they advertising the guide on the log on screen? Truely distasteful, I think.

And yes it does say the only place to get that spider is the underworld in a Note section in the guide... only place it mentions it...

The trick is to read the words not just look at the pictures...

Which is difficult since the pictures are the only good thing. Infos are either useless or well known to anyone. Disgusting they're advertising this crap on the official site.

It's not unreasonable for them to advertise it. It IS the official guidebook.

The main problem with all guidebooks is usually that they are written well before the game is really done. This is even worse with online games like GWs, because the game keeps changing (thankfully).

I'm glad to hear what is and what isn't in the book, though. Helps me (and others, I'm sure) decide whether or not to get it.

Heck, if it's cheap enough, it might be worth it for the collector locations alone. =]

Lol, Guildwarsguru already has a list of Collectors' locations. Cool pictures are missing but hey, I can live with that.

I found the mission walkthroughs and skill listings to be excellent. I got the pdf and it was and still is the only place I can find which skills can be quested versus purchased. It'd be nice if they advised the quest offerer, but at least I know which to hunt around for versus wasting points on.

Interesting... According to that chart, pets gain AC3 for every level gained. Base damage inflicted is identical for all pets at any given level as well, just the type of damage is different.

Um. Damage seems to increase with Beast Mastery.

Test it yourself...take all your points out of Beast Mastery, and let your pet kill one of the mobs outside Ascalon City. Then crank it up and you'll see much more damage.

BASE damage.

And the observation I made and thought i was editing to say (but somehow triple posted) was that despite the Moa Bird and Strider using the same model, they are listed as doing different types of damage. Odd.
