I am a new player. I have just started to read about the game. Few questions...
It said the level cap can be reached quickly.... whats the estimated time it takes? 20 hours gameplay time for instance?
Also what is the difference between primary and seconday professions? Is there a difference between monk/elementalist or elementalist/monk? Can you not recieve all teh skills? I played WOW and have a level 60 Druid. I really want to be a Mage (AOE and NUKE) with the ability to heal. any suggestions?
Thanks
ETA To level cap!

I can't give you an ETA on reaching level 20, since I've never tried to powerlevel my way to the top as quickly as possible.
As for professions, though, your primary affects how you look, what kind of armor you can wear and what your primary attribute is (warriors, for instance, have Strength as their primary while mesmers have Quick Casting, Rangers have Expertise, etc). You can learn all skills from both your primary and secondary professions. It's also been stated that it will be possible to change your secondary profession somehow.
If you want to play a nuker/healer, that'd probably be either an elementalist/monk or a monk/elementalist, depending on whether you wanted nuking or healing to be your main focus. I can't give you any insight into how good those combinations are, since I've never played either of them.

thank you very much...is it me or does everyone want to be a mezmoriser? *SP?*

Have they? I dunno, I don't really keep track of how many people like to play certain professions.

I don't have the game just yet... I should get the pre-order in time for the last beta-weekend event though...
I want to be a Ranger. I'm not sure about the secondary class, though.

~40 hours to hit level 20, or even faster if you power for it.
Each profession has one attribute that is only available to characters that take the class as a primary. In addition, your primary class determines which armors you can craft and wear, and which runes you can use to upgrade said armor.
Otherwise, primary and secondary classes are identical.
Oh, and as of right now each class has a single primary-only skill for PvE characters (Healing Breeze, Vampiric Gaze, Flare, etc) but that's likely just a bug that'll be fixed for retail.
Peace,

If you want to be heavy on dealing damage, be E/Mo. If you want to be heay on healing, be Mo/E. Try them both out and see which one fits your playing style more. For more information you should check out The Campfire section of these boards and post there.
Editing: Amazing. Apparently as I wrote this 5 posts were made before me. Forgive me for saying what was already just said

thank you very much...i am really having a hard time deciding what my primary profession will be. I know my secondary will be Monk and I DONT WANT ranger/warrior for my primary. IT is between necromancer or elementalist or mes. If i choose mes ill prob do Monk as primary mez as secondary.

you will be quite suprized to see alot of rangers.. alot of poeple like pets but i like doing anything as long as it holds my intrest, depending on how you want to play offensively should be how to choose your main, elementalists are more nukers with AoE spells, mesmers dot users and buff/debuffs, necs uses the power of Numbers(minions) and several mixtures of direct dmg or dots.
