New SoC system makes it impossible to capture from "end bosses"
Ninlawen
When you kill many of the boss mobs the game immediately goes to a cut-scene, now making it impossible to capture any skills from these mobs. This is also true for all the facets in Dragon's Lair except for the strength facet. Unless there is a way to get around this, I'd say this is a pretty serious problem. Hopefully some carification or another hotfix will come soon
Elythor
For Dragon's Lair, you don't trigger the scene unless you walk into the portal....so just tell your party not to walk into the portal.
But that's true you won't be able to cap Hundred Blades after defeating you-know-who.

From my experience it goes to the cutscene after like 5 seconds of killing the facet, if you run into the portal within that time you skip the cutscene and go straight to the next area. I could be wrong though, haven't done a lot of experimentation with it.

A solution to this would be a dialog like the unclaimed items one that appears after the completion of the mission. It would list all the boss monsters that you had killed in the mission and allow you to capture from them then. Of course, this isn't an optimal solution because the fact that you end up back in a town means you could equip more capture signets to harvest extra skills. But something LIKE that could do the job...
Ninlawen
Yeah it would require some sort of purgatory area after the mission (pass or fail) where you could cast SoC and pick through all the boss mobs you killed. I'm sure this will be sorted out fairly quickly as it seems like it will impede the progress of a good number of people.
Drakron
Perhaps two versions of the signet, one like this one and one like the old one.

I was going to say something like that. I was going to say that perhaps they should have left the SoC alone, as well as adding on that option. This way you can capture skills while the enemy is alive, like end bosses (You-know-who is not the only boss with Hundred Blades, last time I checked) and for convenience, normal bosses could be capped when they are dead.

Edit:Nevermind, tried it. It does stink if anyone wants to get 100 Blades... unless they made a change to what happens after fighting that particular boss.
Ninlawen
You can't cast it until you're in range of a dead boss mob.

Good news! I just went through the mission with the unspeakable boss that has 100 Blades to check it out. His body is available for skill reaping after the cinematic. It will be right next to you afterwards.

What about you-know-who with Barrage then? I haven't tested that out, but I know upon killing him, it triggers the cutscene that'll end the mission.
Helios
Someone will just have to test it. I wouldn't worry. If it's unattainable, ANet will hear about it and hopefully fix it. But something tells me they didn't do this without taking cutscenes into consideration.
Bazooka
I concur that this is an annoyance. Hopefully the "adding more bosses who use elite skills" in the last update helps mitigate this, somewhat.

Pretty much an easy solution that most people have already caught on. Just allow it so that you can cap while battling and during death, simple and easy.

I was playing this area last night and we discovered that if you pull the dragon away from his start location before killing him it wont trigger the cut sceene untill you walk back to where he was.

I liked the idea of if you had a signet in your hotbar, you have the option at mission conclusion to capture one of the abilities (if applicable.)

With the above you-know-who, he used the skill so often it was easy to capture it. I captured Spell Breaker last night and it seemed so goofy and easy to capture it, it almost depressed me.

You can still get Barrage in the 2nd mission on Fire Island now so you'll have a wait a bit more past where you could get it before from the "end mission boss". I don't think any skills were made unavailable through this but some you might have to wait longer for.

the best solution for this: full human team tell the others to tank the boss, while you wait for the skill appear and capture it, i havent had a single set back using this technique LOL i was wondering if its possible not to get the skill you want maybe it is for some people but honestly try this out it works like a charm, you just need to do the mission with full or atleast half human team ( take henches that dont damage the bosses too much )
Editorial.
i didnt know people who cant capture skills from any boss existed untill now. me and my frens allways do few missions at a time then go for skill hunting using this method.

I agree - the SoC should work BOTH ways - the new and old one. That would be PERFECT.
TreeDude
I think the best option is to simply let you cast it while in battle or after its dead. But only have the menu come up if you defeat the boss. That way it still needs to be dead. So if you loose the battle, you don't get the skill. I hope they do it that way. For areas that zone you after the boss is defeated, just have the menu come up after the zone change.
Santiago_Draco
Come on guys, do you really think they did this to make it easier? They did this to make it more of a "challenge" so you have to complete an encounter before gaining a skill.
In any case it sucks as it's implimented. if they were concerned about us getting the skill easily they would have simply attached the menu to the current capture method, and made it instant cast.
As for the cut scenes issue, it is NOT as simple as disabling the automatic jump. If there is ever a portal some dumb a$$ is going to run through even if you type 20 times in all caps that you need to capture a skill.
So they need to put back the old system and add the menu and make it instant cast...if all they care about is making it easy for us.

LOL they made it easier in some ways but impossible in other ways. Easier for those hard-to-capture skills like Defy Pain, Battle Rage, Warrior's Endurance but impossible for those with cut-scenes.
Gangrenous Khan
It is a pain if you try to get your elites from the cut scene spots, but they have also been adding bosses with redundant skills to the PvE areas. Just find one of the new sources and pilgrimage to a boss without a cut scene.
