? About Shields

Lets say you have a shield with +16 armor.
Does that +16 apply no matter where you are hit? Only vs the creature you are attacking? Some other method I havent thought of?

I'm guesing the +16 is applied no matter where you get hit, no matter who hits you, but only to physical damage?

Help me out here

Wrong. A shields armor will only apply if your being hit in the front.
