Dye as an Economic Bulwark...?
Kaleban
I think its rediculous that a bottle of ink should cost 4000 gold, don't you?
I also think we'd see more variety in the game of colors, and people willing to mix and match, if ALL dye was set to 1g, just like how the merchants price it.
Then you'd have another "hook" for people in the game, the opportunity to mix and match their dyes so that they get just the right shade of purply tan or whatever.
4k+ for one vial of dye, rediculous!

And dye would be a super worthless drop, then. Instead, black dye is a "OMG I GOT BLACK DYE! / OMG YOU LUCKY BASTERT YOU GOT BLACK DYE!" drop. Besides, if you just have a bit of patience and play the game instead of playing dress-up then you can afford as much dye as you want.

Haha well said eA-Zaku!

It costs me 2K to re dye my stuff Armor, sword and shield. Two dyes mixed together. Hell it's worth it.
We gotta have SOME hold on the spending of the gold.. sheesh.

Where has the dye colour chart gone. There are lots of links on the forum to it, but it's a broken link ?

I see dye as a tax on vanity.
Mr. Matt
I don't use it. But even if I did, I'd just go out and find my own rather than wasting that much money...
I like that it's that expensive. Selling dyes to the dye trader is one of my biggest 'cash cows'. Besides, the normal colours (blue, red, etc) aren't that expensive. They're not cheap, but they're not expensive. It's mostly Silver and Black that are ridiculously priced. Though again, I like it. More money for me when I find some!

Since it had been out there for awhile, when GW brought keyloggers attached to skill calculators and such to my attention, I just posted the warning. The program I had for the color mixing, i still have on my website, I can private message you the like if you like just send me a PM.

If you go to a merchant - yeah - dye goes for 1g - BUT - my new character was really short on gold when I went to post-searing and i had looted a vial of black dye - I get offeres for 2k from people - BUT knowing there was a dye trader I checked the trader and the trader offered me 3.25k for the vial. Needless to say I didn't make the sale with the person for 2k and sold it to the dye trader
Make sure you always use the correct merchant if you are selling items - same goes for materials - don't sell to a merchant - sell to a materials trader - same if you sell your armor - you always get more for your sale to an npc than just a general merchant
