Riverside Gets Shafted...AGAIN!
eA-Zaku
Argh! They nerfed Riverside Province AGAIN! Now every third Justiciar is replaced with a spellcaster...
I take it ANet is trying to completely incapacitate farming whenever an area has been overly farmed? First the regular nerf, and now switching out mob types? I think this is a big swing for all those anti-farming people. Now when they're trying to extol the evils of farming, they can say, "Remember Riverside?"

Not sure if this was already posted elsewhere, but they took out Hill Giants for Imps.

Sadly enough, i remember riverside when it was good... the first nerf... didnt make me quit... those four chests on the way there normaly dropped me at least 1-2 rares!, thats right, rares... but well... it's been reduced to kibbles and bits...
I'm a (semi-casual) gamer... playing quite a bit actually.... and well... i can see them trying to take my enjoyment out of the game... i havent found even ONE superior rune... Ever... and ive beaten the game once, and gotten to ring of fire twice... and farmed riverside like mad... even before it was nerfed... so now, what they're doing... is making it impossible for me to make good money in good time (keeping up with the way the economy is dropping)... and well... now i don't know what to do...
I stopped all farming after the last patch, and now i hear it's been nerfed again... sadly enough, i dont have all the skills i want for pvp... but i have enough for the one pvp character i have... and i dont feel compelled enough to do the missions again... i havent unlocked runes i want worth anything... it's kind of frustrating... i regret stacking my ranger out in 15k armor now... that was when riverside ruled... and that's how i spent my money... rather then on superior vigor runes, like i should have... could have bought two when they cost 40k, now they're up to 60-90k as i hear... talk about a waste in my money... meh... no way of getting the money/supplies back now.... so now i pvp like mad!... and of course i run in underworld/fissure every now and then, but that doesnt give me enough money to affoard these outrageously priced runes that i need...
I hear there's a rune trader now... what runes may i ask... and what are the prices?
I think that's speculation... i just got done with a hill giant run before i got off (had to try it hoping they raised the drops again)... (i was wrong... they dropped)... good thing i read the update page just a little bit ago...

If you want to farm, go live in the countryside and have a farm of your own.
eA-Zaku
Farm? Who wants to farm? I want to kill the same monsters in the same area again and again for items that I have already unlocked or could unlock if I played normally, as well as waste my time since I prefer not to PvP as of yet. And the Riverside nerf makes that quite difficult.

You can PVP anytime you want, but you cant farm anytime you want

Why farm when you can find all the good stuff without farming? Just found a sup vigor rune while running with my ranger
eA-Zaku
Me too. Found a Superior Absorption from doing a miscellaneous quest. Farming does help get gold though, and that helps to get that expensive Underworld/Fissure of Woe armor.
Fye Duron
Has anyone noticed that the mobs no longer drop anything? I was running a friend upto Yak's Bend and I did not get one single drop. The drops that should have been mine no one got. Whats up with that?
Shadowdaemon
well its about time they lowered the drops again, have you noticed how hard it is to sell anything now, every time i do a quest or go to anther town i get 3 purples, a yellow, and a major rune, thats kinda ridiculous, the whole game is one farming run
Dralon
Why does everyone get so upset when things drop. What do I care if Joe Bob grinder has 80 runes in his inventory all the time because he can't sell them fast enough. Personally I enjoy the game more when I get cool drops when I kill things, instead of running a mission and just getting a handful of white items. Maybe that's just me, and my inabiltiy and unwillingness to play for 10 hr's at a time.

I don't pick up white items anymore....in fact since the patch I haven't picked up a single drop....

This seems like kind of a stretch. Most of the people who have finished the PvE content will tell you that they never had even close to 10K gold on them at any point.

funny
i only had 10k when i was 20 and at droknar's forge
and armors + materials costed me 10k and now i have like 370 and i couldn't even buy helm
and since i'm weak and all i can't even farm (i usually die before hill giants W/N)
it's hard for me to earn money....

My guild gives me money to put away in our guild hall fund, and we only have 37-38k saved... so tell me money isn't hard to come by. =\

You are all missing the point. They aren't trying to ruin your gaming experience. Farming introduces massive amounts of gold into the GW economy. This results in items and other things costing ridiculous plat.
Casual gamers, a lot of PvP'ers and even some full time PVE'ers can't maintain a comfortable level of gaming. I didn't buy GW so I could work a second job trying to make enough to afford a nice bow. I bought it to game on and kick a little ass.
Give it a break already...

There is a good side and bad side with this.
All i can say is, remember Diablo 2? In the old days if a Grandfather dropped, you were THE MAN/WOMAN, if you look at it now...a grandfather is normal.
The harder great items are to get, the more pleased you will be once you get one. However about the gold issue, my guild needs a Guild Hall aswell, i (alone) saved up to 20k and im near the end, i traded alot, got more money then i bought em for, yet still 20k is max i have.
The only way getting gold fast (some say rip off noobs, but tbh, thats to low 4 me) is getting a great rune, or a great drop. For example a max dmg rare fiery dragon sword sell for 10-20k and if the stats are great then even 40-50k if not more.
So pray you get one lucky drop, since Guild Members are ALWAYS to lazy to save only 2k gold per person to get a Guild Hall. (atleast mine was) Good luck.

Gold or money is not hard to get. You just need a lot of patience. If you enjoy playing, the money will come. If you're not having fun, then play another game. If you're impatient, you're not having fun, so play another game.

The more patches they release, the more boring the game becomes. I haven't played it for a week now due to their stupid nerfs. When I was originally putting $50 down for this game I wasn't expecting to buy a MMORPG grinder, but lo and behold this is what it has turned into. They should just unlock all the skills and separate pvp from pve completely.
Dan Mega
I enjoy the nerfs and less gold. It makes the farmers, who have 17 hours a day to play, have to work that much harder to horde all the gold.
Super Smurf
I made it to the Forge last weekend with just over 16k gold, all collected through regular playing. I bought a full set of knight’s armor and spent a grand on a shield and a weapon upgrade leaving me with less than 8k gold. I just started experimenting with farming this week and have spent maybe 3 hours total doing it (and don't plan on doing any more of it) in addition to the normal 2-3 hours a night of regular gameplay with one of my friends. Since last weekend I have already past the 16k I had and am know at almost 20k at this moment, and only about 3k of that came from farming, and I haven't even played since Tuesday. I have made a grand total of two sales to other PC’s both this week for a total of 1600 gold 1200 of which I used to by bags and runes of storage for my lower level character. I'll admit that in the early parts of the game making money is a bit of a struggle, but since Yak's Bend I have always had enough money to buy the best armor upgrades and the best crafter weapons and even an item or two from another PC. Now I'm sitting on almost 20k 3 days of playing after buying my ascension armor with nothing I NEED to buy (15k armor is for looks only). So could you tell me again why farming is necessary, or how gold is hard to come by? Is that superior vigor that cost 90k going to make your character noticeably more effective than a major vigor that you can easily find? Is that 80k sword that gives you a 5% better chance of getting +1 to your swordsmanship when you use a skill, or gives 5% longer enchantment time then the half dozen with otherwise identical stats you have probably already sold going to make that much of difference? Are aquiring these items that will provide you with nominal improvements through methods other than normal gameplay worth the time an effort just so you can say you have it? Is it worth inflating the economy and marginalizeing casual gamers?
Just my two cents.
Just my two cents.

Some of you dont quite get it, there is an actual bit of luck needed in this game, I have played one character through the whole game and started my second character, i actually found my very first black dye in pre searing (oh my joy) and waited till post-searing to sell it (pre-searing peeps dont exactly have tons of gold ya know).
And low and behold.
Everything is so expensive now, I couldnt even sell my black dye at half price for TWO WEEKS, EVERYDAY SPAMMING WITH WTS BLACK DYE 5K
Nobody is even buying anymore, luckily by some struck of luck i sold it for 7k at droknars cause I got ran there (15 R/mo). Now playing through the game and saving every cent, up to the point I made 5k with that character. the other gold was from my 20 W/E main character... WHICH MIND YOU I BARELY EVEN GET DROPS WITH ANYMORE! EVEN WITH WHITES!
Oh and I find a rare at gates of kryta mission... (YAY) too bad nobody wants to buy it, cause even though its max, its really only rare in power for THAT portion of the game, nobody wants to buy anything that isnt max dmg or max defense, so even after trying to sell the darned thing, I couldnt even sell it to a merchant for a good price, i ended up having to salvage it for like 8 piles of glittering dust or something like that.
Its a miracle if I find a purple in a mission with any character now.
The problem really is that the drops have been made SO HORRIBLE, not even the 17 hour grinders can do anything, some people actually want to farm, and anet said that wanted to make it unnecessary. BUT GUESS WHAT ANET! YOU MADE IT NECESSARY!
god forbid I should find a gold item worth some actual money! or lord the apocalypse is coming!
all in all, some people just have luck with drops and dont feel the effects of the nerfs, WHILE MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY OF US DO!
I didnt even want to head to droknars, but in reality i had no choice cause I would not be able to afford it should I have bought the other armor in kryta then went through the game.
Want to balance the game? Make it so when you play through the pve portion of the game, you'll have JUST enough to afford a full set of armor (including cost of materials) at each major armor upgrade point of the game, so essentially by droknars you should have around 10k and have the other armors you work to get. But you see its not like that, I know a few wealthy characters now and they wont dare spend it now, cause they know most people are poor now and its just harder to make money. (i.e. one wont spend their hard earned 30k until they are sure its safe to do so) i know 30k isnt exactly a millionaire, but to someone like me who has never even had that much at one time, thats a lot.
The rich stay rich, and the poor stay poor, many of them (including myself a few times) had to go and grind just to get the necessary cash to get the next level of armor, almost nobody is buying anything save for the few amounts of material.
My two pennies

O,o
With my 3rd char through I had almost 30k by Bloodstone Fen.
That's also as I was soloing almost everything save for a couple missions with my W/Mo with Droknar's armor.
That's besides the point though, which is that I cannot see how on EARTH you could not have made more than 10k by the end of the game.

as said before, many of us just dont have luck with the drops.
And is it just me, or does Anet have something out against henchies? it seems the only actual time I can find something even remotely good is when I am with a group of actual PC's. This is a bug that should be fixed, i dont care if they intended it the other way, some of us cant get groups either!

I really wish all of you people who bitch and moan to get area net to nerf areas would shut the hell up some people really like to play for the enoyment of finding items when they farm some of us cant help it that you cant or dont farm to get your drops so you all bitch about it and cry like a bunch of little kids if area net keeps on with all of the area nerfs people who dont pvp are gonna be the only ones left not everyone likes to spend all of there time pvp all i know if area net is going to have to do something very soon

I agree that the game is totally nerfed. I have been playing one character for a month now, and have recieved one gold item, which was a bow that I gave to my mother because I couldn't use it. I have ascended, am Lv20, and am going around capturing elite skills. It is still insanely rare to find a purple drop for me. I found a single gold item tonight, but it was with a guild-mate and assigned to him. Even finding normal drops is hard now.
I do agree that the game needs a balance, but right nwo it is 100% off-balance. It sucks, end of discussion. I made it to Droknar's at Lv15 and had 7k on me. The total I have made with this character in an entire month MIGHT be 20k. Most likely more like 16~17k. That is too little. One of my great pleasures in Daggerfall was that after you beat the game and continued playing, I fought high-level monsters and got a decked-out suit of armor, high-end items, and lots of gold. I could buy a house, a boat, and anything else I wanted. Now if I want to buy a damn kleenex to sneeze on, I need to go grind for an hour. That's ridiculous.
The economy only works when people have money to buy stuff. What I see in-game is everything selling at the lowest allowed price because nobody can afford to buy the stuff! Take the retardo rune-traders and an example. They'll sell you a superior vigor rune for like 60k, but they buy them for 25 gold! WHAT THE F*** IS THAT? At *LEAST* give me half-price. That is why people are broke. I have 20 runes to sell but I refuse to sell them for 25g when they sell for 2k. I have been forced to give five to my mother and two to a guild-mate because nobody can buy them at half the trader's price and I refuse to take 25g for something worth 2k or more.
Sure, there are characters pre-nerf that have tons of gold and don't give a damn, but we're talking about real players who start now and can't buy ANYTHING. When I did my characters last time, I could have 5k before leaving pre-searing. Nwo I'm lucky to have 500. Big difference. The drops should be raised, but at the same time, the economy should be fixed and the purple/gold items should drop a lot less than the rest, but not once a friggin' month!

In the past 3 weeks I've found 2 runes, both minor necro runes. I've found 1 gold item, that was half of max damage, and had mods for attributes nowhere near related to the staff's dmg attribute requirement, and couldn't even sell it for more than 30g at the trader because it was such crap. I've farmed gates of kryta for hours on end over the past few weeks (or tried to get some good money off of it), I've done riverside runs (none of which produced anything but a few normal salvage drops), and I even took my character through the missions again.
Never before have I had more than 6k total on a PvE character, not including money I'd earned on other characters. My first character had 6k total his first time through the game at one point, I had to ask guildmates for money to buy the droknar armor. (I'd even gone through every mission/quest in the game.) My second character had 10k at one point, but soon lost it after buying a set of armor somewhere along the line. He also did all the missions/quests in the game, along with some farming. I bought armor at every other armor vendor in the cities, as to keep up fairly good with the monsters, a little behind at times but still.
Then after I'd beaten the game with 2 characters I had 3k in my storage, pretty bad weapons for them, and simple droknar armor. By this point I had about 200 hours in the game. After this time I decided to do some hardcore farming, I farmed like crazy, and between finding a few bugs in certain traders managed to get my first set of 15k armor (with the last 20k given to me by a guild member).
So then I basically farmed like crazy for a month, bought 2 more sets of 15k with it...to buy these I also got lucky with some nice people donating some money to me.
Without hardcore farming and generous donations I've never had more than 10k in the game earned on one character just by doing missions/quests/playing through the game, and that's after playing through with 6 characters.
I've seen 2 superior runes, both were superior vigor and I got 'em a long long long time ago, neither of them salvaged. Other than that...hell I don't think I've gotten more than 10 runes total in the 550+ hours I've put into the game, including mass farming I used to do. Maybe God's angry at me or something.

Well I just got to Droknars with my first char and I had 17k and that's only becouse I had to spend 6k on my W/mo char that I started playing some time ago.
So without any farming or selling stuff to other players I got about 30k in gold, part of it I used on buying armors along the way. So money in pve isn't a problem - I don't really need anything apart from the armor now

Wish I could get purple items when running with henchies, yeah. In fact, I think that drops should get BETTER with Henchies since it's harder to play a mission with only NPCs, seeing as how they're dumber.

3 ecto's in 2 UW runs? Thats crazy. I did UW this past weekend with 3 other Rangers and we killed almost everything 4 times. No ecto's, no gold/purple drops, 1 blue drops, the rest were white drops and glittering dust. I was expecting a little more than that.

And is it just me, or does Anet have something out against henchies? it seems the only actual time I can find something even remotely good is when I am with a group of actual PC's. This is a bug that should be fixed, i dont care if they intended it the other way, some of us cant get groups either! |
There's no bug. It's just plain dumb luck, completely random. Sometimes the game'll spoil you, sometimes the game'll smite you. I went for an enormous stretch of time without getting any special drops at all, not even minor runes, whether playing with NPCs or PCs. Then all of a sudden I started getting gold and purple drops all over the place. It just depends.

Well, my luck can't go anyplace but up, I'm afraid.... Personally, I have NO IDEA how you guys get so many drops- I only seem to get a fraction compared to some. I have no problem with Famine so long as I get SOME Feasting done at some point.
