Is Guild Wars for me?

I played GW back in 2004 when the E3 demo took place, I really enjoyed it then - visuals, how smooth the game play was, and varios options you had when it came to skills. However, I'm not a fan of PvP and for that reason I'm here wondering if GW will be fun if I avoid PvP completly. I also don't like the "Guild" aspect of the game, I'm pretty much a loner heh.

Is GW for me? Will I be playing the game for a while if I avoid what the game is all about? PvP?

It's all your choice if GW is soemthing for you, Guild Wars is based on PvP but it got a huge PvE too, many people thought the beginners area was actually the game and I heard that you've only been able to play around 30% of the game in the Betas anyways so if you wanna PvE there should be enough room for people like you, I heard about many other people in this forum focussing on the PvE aspect too and it don't seems like they're unhappy with it, if you should get bored of exploring there's still the possibility to hang around with people in town, do tradings and many different stuff, you don't HAVE to PvE but since its a MMORPG/CORPG I wouldn't leave this aspect out either, I did some PvP the last BWE and it was really fun and since you're able to do random-team PvP's it doesn't really matter if you're a loner or not..

Originally I thought the 'beginners' 'training' area was most of the game. God did I get a wakeup call on my second BWE ... LOL. I was so happily surprised that that area was simply a lil taste of things to come in comparison to the rest of the game. Keep in mind that they will add more content in the future too. This game simply rox for those that do not want to pvp and for those that do. Simply the reason I deleted EQII and DAOC, cancelled their accounts and said good riddens to monthly payments. muahahahha!!!

Well it would seem to me that I have played in every BWE and have yet to discover the "end" of the line in the world that has been shown to us. Now putting that together with the fact that we have only seen about 60% of the area that will be available to us after release, it would take a damn heafty time commitment to "finish" this game. Now if you are interested in the explorable areas and the missions and side quests and are putting in an average of 10 hours a week it might take as long as a year to get through everything.
I, like you, have no intention, at this time anyway, to participate in PvP or GvG so I will be taking my time exploring the "World" and we'll just see how long it takes.

i expect to enjoy smelling the flowers and fur and.........for a long time

exploring and missions and quests plus just plain looking around and finding stuff will do it fine for me

as i said i will probably be dead last of the preorders to level 20 but have fun getting there

i am also leaving one character permanently in presear for vacations as it is so pretty to look at

Well, im a loner and i love pvp and pve, i would say that you would most likely love this game for quite a long time, especially since the explorable area's go to quite a few area's that hardcore pvp'ers won't find, and then you'll get special skills / items that you may not see everyone wearing... and when they ask, don't tell em where you went ^.^ it's great fun for me exploring area's alone... i still havent been everywhere i could go and last beta weekend i did an allnighter. (guild wars has a great night comunity as well) and it's only beta... woot... can't wait for the release.

one thing that can get annoying is the stupidity of some of the "hireables" or whatever you want to call them. i had one run into the poisonous water and he just stood there, dieing... heh... it was kind of funny really...
I do hope they let us take multiple of the same kind of hireables tho, i would rather just have a few healers a mage and me.... other then that, really i don't have any complaints on the pve aspect, not to mention all the collectors, in which i think could give hints on where to find what they want, but that's fine by me, cause ill explore everything and try to get all i can.

I think that Guild Wars will cater fully to both amazingly well and will continue to grow leaps and bounds in the future. Something that always annoyed me about RPG's is that you spend so much time building up your characters as far as you can but when you beat the game... that's it. I'm going to really enjoy playing the PvE and then transfering that over to PvP and testing the extents of the character and my own abilities.
