3 PVE and 1 PVP character
Pyxis
Just wondering if this is how most people plan to run their characters?
Basically it seems like you need to have your 3 characters split up the 6 professions.
Wa/Ne
Mo/El
Ra/Me
for instance, and then leave your 4th open for PVP so you can delete and recreate with different builds based off your unlocked skills.
I know you can switch professions for your secondary, but if you really want to unlock all the skills in the game, seems like it would be best to run 3 characters, unless you really want to avoid repeating missions.
Also if they are going to allow for this delete/recreate thing for PVP characters, wouldn't be easier if they just let people reconfigure their characters however they want each time they play? Maybe even store different profiles they can run? Still would be based off unlocked items, but this way they could switch to another character without the hassle of deleting their current one and starting from scratch.
Maybe I am way off base on how the release game will work, but this is just what I took from how things appeared last BWE. Seemed like the best way to set myself up to get all the skills in the game for PVP, correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks.

i think they want the pvp players to have to do a minimum of work for what they use rather than just give them everything on a platter

I'm going to run one character, Sain Antaheim, Ranger/Warrior. One character has seen me through for every online RPG I've played, so I can't see Guild Wars being any different.

hmm... i think ill just start to play the game with my wa/el for PvE
then maybe a necro/warrior for PvP
then maybe a necro/warrior for PvP

I'm going to have one life time character, the character I will create from day one and never (well hopefully never) delete. This will be my PvE, PvP, farming, socializing, etc character. Then I'll have 1-2 slots for custom PvP characters and my last slot will be my skill collecting character. That's the plan anyway.

I plan to have 4 PvE characters that will also do PvP. Having played the betas, I am pretty sure I know what I want to play. Maybe in the future I will delete one or two if I get bored with them and want to replace them, but I'm just not into having a character for PvP only. Too limiting for me.

Well I think that your PvEs will become your PvP characters as well. When you think of it, they'll have the best runes and items anyways. Plus they'll accumulate fame and such which will make them all that more worthwhile to keep. That's why you should make one that you like playing and not just one that will end up unlocking skills. But keeping a slot for deleting and creating PvP characters is a good idea and that's what I do for the BWEs.

I'm still hoping for mre than 4 char slots, but if we are stuck with four I'll have 3 that cover the six professoins (for PvE, PvP, farming, socializing, etc) and a fourth for PvP that will get remade lots.

I'll probably have 1 PvE character and change around the secondary proffesion so I can get the skills needed for my PvP characters. Then I'll keep 2 PvP characters set and play around with the third. If I end up never using the thrid PvP I'll probably get another PvE just for fun.

Main: E/Mo RP Char
Alt: W/R-N-Me (who is soloing and switching secondary class to get me all skills)
Leaves me 2 slots for other pvp chars than my priest.

I'll have one W/Mo, which will collect all Warrior skills, act solely as a warrior, but also collect monk skills for my PvP Monk. I will Then have an El/Me, which will collect skills for both lines. Once my El/Me gets to the top, I will switch out the subclass for Ranger and Necromancer to get spells I want for PvP. I'll then have a permenant healer-class PvP char and a PvP char to switch out.

I'm a fan of doing one thing and doing it well, so whatever extra characters I make won't be too different from my main one. I'm planning on using a Me/N, so my alternates will probably be some combo of E, Me, and/or N plus a W/Mo for farming. The Me/N and the W/Mo will be RP characters, and the other two slots will probably just be PvP-only.

After much deliberation I think the Ranger/Monk will be my first char on release. Afterwards I'll make chars out of the remaining professions, leaving myself with a free pvp sandbox slot.
I may delete the characters later so I can mess around with other things in PvE (gotta love pre-Searing), but I'm not particularly looking forward to that, in case the new skills released in the expansions are placed in some obscure, high level places (here's hoping they at least increase char slots when they introduce new professions).
