Mini game ideas? post here ^_^
Yotian
Ill start by posting my idea
*Hog Races*
Ever been to a dog race well this one is similar but it will be 11 Hogs running instead of dogs, there would be a circuit of its own that would be accesible from each major city after searing From a NPC that could be called a Race Promoter ( or something like that ).
How to place bets? before the race the hogs will be in a similar row as the henchies, by clicking on them you would get a similar screen as in the trade where you either View or cancel the trade but the options here will be: place bet and view race history, viewing history shows past placements in the races, place bet allows you to put your money on the hog ( max 300g/bet and max 3 bets/person ) then you will get a bet token that says your hogs number and the amount of gold on it.
How does the prizes get counted? Simple lets say 70 people placed bet in the races for a total of 19,000g and number 8 wins and a total of 21 people placed bets on that hog, so 19,000:21 = about 905g ( the players that bet on the winner gets the total money divided among them)
How to cash in? talk to the NPC that teleported you to the circuit and give him the Race token.
How often the races would be kept and how long will they be? is 10-20 minutes a good time and lasts for about 1 minutes per race , well atleast i think it would be ^_^ and BTW the racing announcements are visible only for the ones that are inside the circuit.
and as in for keeping up the diversity the hogs stats would get reset every 2-3 days. and hogs will have random/varying succes in the races.

LOL i like this. I'd suggest Strider races but maybe that would be too much of a rip-off from Final Fantasy 7

Oh indeed!! races would rule...
How about being able to race your pets... i dunno... wolf vs stalker #1!!
Place bets now folks!
yea... races would be fun... but well... with a game like this, it would probably be pretty hard to add it in a nice fashion, it would probably take quite a long time... and well... i would suggest that sort of mini-game could be yet another expansion idea for the future!

Ale keg stands. You'd have to use either the mouse keys or the arrow keys to keep upright and balanced on the keg all while tapping a particular to keep drinking. The crowd around you will start shouting "Drink! Drink! Drink!" and then when you start they would chanting the number of seconds you were on the keg, " 1, 2, 3 ,4 ,5 --->" Now the longer you do it the more intoxicated you became. Also short stands would result in booing from the gathered crowd and a longer one would result in serious cheering and applauding.

heh thats a good one Night what you wana call it? heres one name the irish ( or dwarven ) balance test

I like the sounds of those races. As long as the NPC always takes more money than he gives out it becomes a viable gold sink.

.. monster swarm area.
The -only- loot they would drop is tokens. Tokens would be exchanged for amusing prizes.

I think it'd be kind of neat to have a sort of card game (again, I'm not trying to rip of Final Fantasy. Just happens that they had the idea, too.. and it's a good one!) It would be something simple, but that required at least a little strategy to win.. However, I don't think it should be possible to buy cards from people. You have your own personal deck and you can win cards by winning games. Not necessarily from the other player, though. I rather like the idea that a deck has a rating based on how good the cards are.. The players' deck rating is averaged and a card within their range becomes the prize. That way there's no penalty for losing, since it's just a minigame anyway... a good time waster when your guildies are taking FOREVER to get back from making coffee... Oh wait, that'd be me.. not them. hee

yes a game like Triple-Triad or Tetra master would be outstanding with monster theme cards of course
Snipe Kan

I'd love to know what the heck any of this has to do with Guild Wars.... just a bunch of pointless, unrelated crap to add to a game.
DrSLUGFly
though I'm too tired to come up with minigames atm, there is a warcraft 3 custom map called Uther Party that has like 30 or 40 really cool little mini games, all of which (most of which) are very fun. I'll try to remember some after sleepage and repost the basic concepts. :"D

How about an Amazing Race type game?
Two parties are formed in Lion's Arch. They each start the race at the same time (think the mission countdown timer) in their own instance. The enemies are exactly the same in each. They race to Bergen Hot Springs. There are only three rules: every party member must be alive upon arrival to Bergen, all party members must be within 100 feet from one another and the party must slay at least 24 monsters along the way.
The rules will enforce teamwork and hopefully keep out the running-only builds. It would also get people to think strategically: is it faster to slay this big group of five Tengu and then run around these other two groups of three or the other way around?
The first team to comply with the rules and reach Bergen wins. They could win XP, a skill point, gold, weapon upgrades, whatever.

GW Monkey
My favorite mini-game within a game has got to be Whack-A-Rat from Sam and Max Hit the Road (OsG man, shaddup) The poor bruised, battered, disoriented rat who... well, you had to see it.
So: GW Carnival Games. Like, remember in pre-sear when you ran into that gypsy caravan in Green Hills? Make it like that but with carnie games. Charr dunk tank. Ring toss at swords stuck in the ground (but would be worthless and low stat if you won) Make it cost gold to play but make the "prizes" useless... salvageable "collector" items that no one takes, much like real carnie loot.

A.net won't consider these, but I like coming up with ideas :P
Boss Battles - Fight in a random party of 4, against the evil mastermind of Tyria, from Bonfaaz Burntfur, to the Lich Lord. Make it to the end, and win a nice random prize from gold, platinum, to rare weapons (Wee.)
Pet Fights - Battle other player pets in an arena, and earn special faction, to unlock new Beast Mastery spells to use in PPvP, and regular missions.
(Use target command to attack enemy foe)

tavern games ^^
anyone rember the game where they ties a viking barmaid to a wall by her plats and you had to carefully move a pointer over each one and throw your axe to cut it from the wall, only as you got further into the game, you had been drinking more and more mead, so your pointer dodges all over hte place to show how drunk your guy was....?
well, juat tie a GW barmaid to the wall and do that with ether hand axes or daggers ^^
the drinking game of rather than see who can stand up the longest with the booze, see who can stand at all^^ gulp too many beers/meads/Maguma Brew down too fast and whammo! you hit the floor, in 1st person...great grainy floorbords rise up to your screen and then it goes black
i prefer not to have the normal gambling games, i mean, if you wanna play poker, go to a poker site lol..
for single players, solitare on cards is good....make the two red suits be reprisented by Dwayna and Lyssa, the two black suits are Grenth and Balthazar. they would be the Ace cards, then numbers 2 thru 10 are monsters that use a skill belonging to that god ect....8 of minotaurs for balthazar....5 of beetle for Grenth ect....
include games like snap and go fish type, not normally accosiated with gambling, so is a *skill of playing* rather than gamble to get items or tokens or even status..your name up on the tavern board as the top player of the moth in the server
then theres the traditional games...bar skittles....q and a....punch me-puch you, but that is only available on a firday/satday night ^^ and you have to have drunk at least 10 pints of whatever to get in^^

I'm thinking like in the hog quests, you actually have to move the hog yourself :P
Frost1069
i think it would be pretty sweet if they add on lil mini games...it would give ppl more to do after finishing the game other than farming, pvp, and repeating missions...i can see them getting pretty popular...i hope anet considers this
Mr Fizzle
I suggest the card, gambling, ext type games should be made into a tavern found in each major city.Like Ascalon City has Ascalon Tavern,Lion's Arch has the Lion's Tavern andso on for each city.

Shooting an apple ontop of your partners head. There would be a little thing that moves back and forth like:
l ll () l
l ll () l
l ll () l
With ll being the bar moving back and forth and () being the middle thing. You would hit the middle by shooting a 1/4 second "distracting shot" that would deal about 40 damage. The apple or pear or different items would have different amounts of HP, while your buddy would have a set amount of 480, obviously try to kill the fruit before you insta gib your buddy (BOOM HEADSHOT!). Pears may have the bar moving slower while grapes make it look like a blur. I thought of this because I need interupt practice while using distracting shot and ripsotle against attack skills =p
