Bloom effect: can it be disabled?

As you are all no doubt painfully aware, there isn't any gamma setting currently in Guild Wars. In certain areas such as snow or sand, the screen becomes so bright as to quite literally blind you - this is terribly hard on the eyes. I had 20/20 vision at one time, and with this current mode I'll soon be legally blind...

It appears much of this is because of a "bloom" effect that automatically highlights any nearby visible details - which is why your characters face "glows" when you view it up close. The only way I have discovered to reduce or turn this off is to run graphics in low detail.
Is there another way?

Is there any known switch or setting that can be inserted into the command line for the GW.exe that will disable this effect?

Thanks in advance,

Talesin

You're welcome. Make sure to come ask us if you have any more problems.

Personally, I have that crap turned off constantly. It gives me migraines.
