Question about Item Requirments.

I have a monk that uses an off hand armor item.

Now the monk is actually an alternative character, so I don't play him as much as my main. However, I have been wondering about this for a while.

I don't really use the monk to deal damage. I almost always find a party and act as a "Pure Healer"

SO... I have a one handed monk weapon in my right hand and a "Blue" focus item in my left hand.

I meet the requirments for my weapon. However, I do NOT meet the requirements for the focus Item I use.

But the stats on the focus item are... +7 energy, -4 armor, +18 energy

So my question is this. What penalty do I suffer if I use this focus item while not qualify'in for its requirments? Cuz I DO get the mana from it's mods.

Do I deal less damage with my weapon? Do I deal less damage with spells? DO I HEAL FOR LESS HP?????

You need to look at the requirements.
If it says:
+7 energy (7 in Smiting)
-4 armor
+18 energy
Then you would get the other two to the full extent and the +7 would be less than that because you do not meet the requirements.

Is it really -4 to armor or +4? I only ask because you said you get the energy that is listed.

I would suggest you move your points around to meet the requirements and see how much energy you get after you do that. You can always move em back if you are not happy with the results.

Yopu do not suffer any negative penalty--you just do not get the full stats on the item listed--but only for the stat bonus that has the requirement.

As we all have noticed. Unfortunatly, many of the mods on "Blue" items come with a "De-Mod" or "De-Buff" also.

For example.

-<Focus Item of No Rant Forum Thread>-

Energy +7 (Requires 7 Smiting) ===> Normal Mod found on "White" Items
Energy +18 ===> Bonus Mod found only on "Blue" items
Aromor -4 ===> This "Blue" item grants alot of energy, BUT......
