Wow...inflation eminent on runes.

I just checked the price for a minor absorption rune, and its around 900 gold. The new patch increased the price of these runes by atleast 500, maybe 600 gold. I had bought a couple minor absorptions before the patch for 300 a piece, and the seller thought it was a good deal, and it was. Now the price of it has skyrocketed to 900, it's crazy. The patch was supposed to keep rune prices low, but it's driven them up.

A patch can't drive price up. Only people drive prices up. More people buy = high price. Simple economics. And if you want cheaper runes, go yell at the trade channel and hope someone will sell you one.

The patch is not supposed to be keeping rune prices low. Rune traders are put in to keep the rune prices FAIR. The price from the trader is derived from the demand and supply of the respective runes. Just go check the major or superior version of the less popular runes such as Soul Reaping and they cost tens of gold only becos there're less demand for them. Try buying Major Soul Reaping for < 200 gold before the patch... It is impossible becos everyone thinks that any Major rune must be worth at least 800-1k. So putting in rune trader balance the true demand and supply and is not driving the prices up as you allege.

Think on the bright side. Be glad that you got the few minor absorption cheap becos the sellers don't know better

Funny, minor vigor runes are so expensive, yet the trader will refuse to buy my minor vigor rune. Seems like ANet are keeping the prices high by denying people the ability to sell their vigor runes?

The rune trader won't accept my major vigor or absorption. Mybae it is because they have the minor rune graphics, not sure because I was able to sell a superior strength with minor rune graphics.

Well at the time 300 was a good price for a minor rune of any sort...vigor went for 500, but it too is 900 now. This is just something I noticed, I'm not neccesarily complaining. I've just been noticing the prices of everything skyrocketing, I mean people are now paying 100k for a sword, then there's people who pay over 100k through items (sigils, sup vigor, etc.). It's getting a bit out of hand. There was that time when 5000 gold bought you a really nice weapon that now sells for 90-100k.

The trader refused to buy my Minor Absorption rune last night. Weird.

The stated purpose behind the rune traders was so that you didn't have to farm for hours to find runes.

At least before the traders I could buy a minor fire for 250, now the trader wants 1.5k for a minor fire, which forces all prices up and means I have to go farm for gold for ages or go farm for runes anyway.

Nothing solved, situation made worse by a poorly thought out solution.

People are buying a whole bunch of runes right now because the trader is new. Prices should stabilize in a few days.

Have you seen the prices for Mesmer runes on that vendor? I'm in Heaven.

Prices haven't gone up, they have shifted to their proper supply-and-demand based prices.

Before the rune traders no one had any real way of determining how much a rune was worth because there was no real way except for haphazard personal communication with other traders to find out what they were worth.

A lot of runes are much cheaper, for example superior earth and water are now hovering around 2k gold.. those are SUPERIOR runes, selling for 2k.

Some minors, like minor fire, are much higher, as they should have been before(250 for a minor fire was a ripoff to the trader, btw), because of the absurdly high demand for fire runes.

Nop this is not inflation. Although a rise in price may all seem like inflation in the unexperienced eye, but this is not inflation.

Anet setted up a floor price ingame by putting the rune sellers in. They can prevent the price of the minor runes from getting to 0 and raise and balance the general price level of runes.

Everyone is currently buying the runes they want, so prices will be somewhat high for those things in high demand. Vigor and absorptions are dead giveaways, the massive W/Mo 'Paladin' population are all trying to get their superior swordsmanship, the pure monks are trying to get their superior healing, the elementalists are getting their superior fire. And players with a bit more clue are smiling: strength, divine favor, domination, expertise etc. are dirt cheap.

Why the trader refuses to buy something like minor vigor is something I don't understand though. Maybe it will only buy a certain amount of minor vigors per cycle, and too many people are trying to offload their minor vigor collection right now.

Yes, those who like air probably have their superior runes now. Fire is still getting hammered and blinking in and out of existence at around 26 platinum or so, same with swordsmanship (28 platinum). The prices will drop, but people are impatient, and some have enough money not to care about spending over 25 platinum on something they believe their character needs. There's an awful lot of gold out there.
